Madison’s POV. I was in a deep sleep; my phone was ringing nonstop, and I was too tired to reach it. I opened my eyes slowly, the room coming into focus around me. Madison’s POV. Tyler took the phone from my hand and dialled the number for the police station, putting it on speakerphone. I listened as the phone rang, my heart pounding in my chest. Finally, a woman's voice came on the line. "Hello, this is the police station; how can I help you?” Tyler cleared his throat and spoke into the phone. "Hi, I'm calling on behalf of my friend, Madison Byers. She's worried about the status of a case you're investigating. It's about her sister, Gem.” "Can I have the victim's name and the case number?” The woman asked, her voice calm and professional. Tyler looked at me and I told him Gem's full name and the case number, which I had committed to memory. "One moment, please.” There was a brief pause, and then she spoke again. "I'm afraid I can't give you any updates on this case. It's still an open investigation, and I'm not authorized to share any information. Madison’s POV.I took the call quickly and put the phone on speaker so Tyler could hear what the officer was saying. "Hello, Miss Madison Byers.” “Good day, officer.” “We found your sister.” My heart leaped for joy. I knew that cocaine overdose could be deadly, and the thought of losing my sister was almost too much to bear.
