Lake(2):

I watched as Jay punched this kid continuously. I was shocked. I didn’t know that small of guy could actually get a hold of someone like that. I flinched every time Jay’s fist made contact with the poor kids face. Jay's eyes were clouded over it looked like he wasn’t even there. I couldn’t keep my eyes off jay. His short, wavy, ashy brown hair was falling into his face. His golden eyes were clouded over and everytime he pulled back i could see his muscles through the red flannel he was wearing.

It scared me to see him like that but soon the principal, I think her name was Paula Kruse, came running up to Jay and blew her whistle. Jay looked at her with a murderous rage in his eyes. Mrs.Kruse seemed unphased by it and grabbed his arm to drag him to the office.

My next class had already started so I had no choice but to...follow Jay and Mrs.Kruse down to the office. I hid behind some lockers and kept my distance so I wouldn’t get caught.

“What are you doing Lake?” Jen whispered. I want to know what they’re going to say. I thought back to her. “You’re going to get caught, isn't this invasion of privacy?” Jen mumbled. Go away, I'm trying to listen.

I felt Jen disappear into the back of my head when I saw a woman, with worry lines etched deep into her face run into the office. I move closer to the door and hear “What happened? Is Evan okay?”

Evan? I thought his name was Jaymeson. I shook my head in disbelief. He lied to me about his name. What a jerk. “Maybe he didn’t lie.” Jen came shooting to the front of my head. Would you go away? I'm still listening. I shot back. “Fine i’ll go, just don’t fall for this one, he does not seem like good news.” Jen said as she drifted back.

I walked closer to the door and tried to listen to their conversations. I heard the woman, I am now assuming Jay's mom say, “have you been taking your meds bubbas?” I could feel Jay get uncomfortable. I think that’s a no then. I chuckled to myself. I couldn’t hear anything else. Just quiet mumbles and muttered thank yous as I heard the door click. I bolted to a chair and sat down. “Act like you have a headache!'' Lillian said. With you here I don't have to act. I grabbed my head and sat on the chair set right outside the office.

Jay looked at me, well kind of. He looked more into my direction and just stared, but not at me. It seemed to him that I wasn't even there.

“Evan please can this wait until we get home?” His mom looked deep into his eyes. and that’s when i saw the clouds from those, oh so golden eyes disappear. “Huh?” He shook his head and looked at me again. This time we made eye contact. “Are you following me?” he smirked.

I hadn't seen him smirk like that before. My stomach erupted into butterflies. “You’d like it if I was that invested in you!” Lillian said for me. Seriously couldn’t even give me a chance to say something. Jay's eyes hadn’t moved from mine. "Did his voice sound different?" Jen whispered. It did sound different, more flattering, and without the accent.

Finally his mom whispered “Evan come on, please not right now.” Jay shook his head and walked away with his head down. His eyes clouded over once more.

I heard Mrs. Kruse clear her throat. “you’re in for it now.” chuckled lillian. fuck off. “Ms. Watson, what are you doing?” I frantically thought of something to say when Jen blurted “I have a massive headache I think I need to go home.” Mrs. Kruse rubbed her temples. She looked absolutely defeated from the day. “Fine go. I don’t even care.” She finally spat out.

Is she really letting me go? No need to call my parents or anything?! “Just go dumb ass before she changes her mind.” Jen laughed. I grabbed my things and booked out of the school and towards my house.

When I got home, I noticed my mom and step dad weren’t home. “Alone at last!” I smiled. I walked into my room and started playing my music very loud. I got out my sketchbook and remembered my drawing left for Jay.

“I hope he calls!” shouted Maya. Who then proceeded to shoot outside my head and into view. She walked around the room frantically, “What would we say if he does call?! Oh my god this is too good he for sure is going to call what will you ta-” Jen cut her off and flashed into view. “Maya shut up and listen to yourself this isn’t going to work out, we all know how this goes, he finds out about us and then leaves.”

The girls crowded around the room. Maya was young, only 15, she had medium brown wavy hair, with bright blue eyes and a cute little button nose. While Jen was the most mature out of them with long blonde hair and green eyes with a very beautiful but manipulative smile. Jen was 19. Then there was Lilian who had the darkest of black hair, and dark brown eyes with red lines covering her wrist. There are more but I won’t introduce them until later.

All of the girls paced around the room arguing about Jay, er i mean evan. What ever his name is. But all I could do was try to figure him out. I remember his golden eyes completely clouded over. It was like the lights were on but nobody was home

Everyone was bickering about jay..er evan, or whatever his name is. But all I could think about was the sound of his fist connecting with that poor kid's face, and his eyes. His eyes were a perfect gold but when he was running out of the office and pounding the kid relentlessly they were a cloudy gold. He didn’t even seem to exist. I shuddered at the thought of him being like that....Like me.

The rest of the night was just me thinking about him. Waiting and hoping for a call yet hoping he wouldn’t. Oh well, I have to face him tomorrow.

I woke up to my phone ringing “Who calls at 4:30 am.” mumbled a groggy maya. Psychos. I replied. I rolled over and looked at my phone. The number was from in town but I didn't. “It’s him, answer it.” Jen whispered.

“Hello?” I groggily said. “Hey, it’s Jaymeson. Sorry to call early, wanna go watch the sunrise?” the accent was back. I sat in silence “did he just ask that?” Lillian blurted out. What should I do?

“What?” Jay asked through the phone. “Erm, nothing talking to myself.” I responded. He huffed through the phone, “well at least now i know i’m not the only crazy person here.” His voice changed again, no more accent. “Yeah, I'll go watch the sunrise with you.” I said. my heart was thumping in my chest. I don’t understand how this boy has me feeling like this. “Perfect text me your address, see you in a few.” and with that he hung up the phone

A while later I heard something hit my window. I got up and wiped the sleep from my eyes. Then I heard another knock at the window and walked over to it. There was Jay standing outside throwing pencils. “What is it? the 80’s?” I chuckled. Jay smiled, but not the smile I saw yesterday, a different happier smile. “I do think I was born in the wrong generation.” He smiled a genuine smile. “Cmon get out here!” I smiled and climbed through the window.

"How do I know you're not going to kill me." I huffed at him. He stopped walking and turned around, "Kitten if I were going to kill you, I would've done it by now." He smirked. I stood there dumbfounded. I snapped out of it when he grabbed my hand.

"Nonono Lake don't do it!" Lillian shouted. But I couldn't resist. I connected to him. I felt everything he felt, everything he thought I could hear. And oh boy, do I regret it.
