chapter 5. Andrew

Andrew prided himself on his mental fortitude. The battlefield was filled with a rollacosta of Emotions. Death, life, Joy, Tears and everything in-between, and Andrew had seen it all. Still, nothing could have prepared him for the Shock he felt when He saw Claire Again.

Small world. Salstone, Livingstone, He should have known there was everyrisk of meeting her here.

What was He thinking coming here in the first place!

All grown, beautiful and sweet, Claire stood in front of him.

His boss.

He Should have asked General ISSA for pictures.

She looked sexy as hell in that Purple doll dress that revealed more than it consealed.

7years.

She was a woman now, a very beautiful woman. It felt funny seeing her cladded in so much make up. The Claire he used to know didn't really need any makeup. Andrew tried not to stare for too long, keeping a straight face was easy with all his years in the army besides,He was here on a Job. He loved her when there were younger. She was married now, moved on from what there were, just as He prayed for.

"I don't need a bodyguard" she shouted "especially not him"

She must resent him so much and he deserved it. He deserved all the resentment the World could give. 7 years, and without saying goodbye

It wasn't his intentions to come back into her life but now that fate had brought them back together, it wasn't in his intentions to walk out of her life either.

Andrew could tell she wasn't a happy Woman nor a happy wife.

The look between her and her husband, the way he held her hand and lead her away, too tightly. It was the little things, like how her feet pressed hard to the floor. Andrew took note of it all.

He saw her the next Morning and her demeanor was worse. Her eyes where frosty even to her Husband. The mayor didn't seem to mind though.

Eating breakfast through all of it. He must be used to it. Andrew hated the tension. It reminded him of the war he was bent on leaving behind.

"She's in a Bad mood" The mayor said to him "I am sure it has nothing to do with you"

He must be a terrible husband Andrew concluded watching him leave the House.

He approached Claire while she took the dishes from the dinning

"Claire I would need to have your schedule and also speak to you about the break-in days ago"

She stared blankly at him for a while and then ignored him.

"I have a Job to do so I would love to have your schedule"

That was it.

"So you do recognize me afterall. I thought maybe I was wrong, maybe. Then again I'm your Job so it's only normal. Can I ask you one question?"

Andrew knew there would eventually have to talk about the past but not now. He could tell she hated him so much.

"Ask"

"How much is my Dad offering to pay you?"

"Your Dad? Why would He pay me? I don't even know the Man"

"Yeah right." She answered before walking out on him.

General ISSA texted him that night to find out how things were going. Andrew kept his replies peripheral.

"Locate Mayor Bay, it's important" The General reminded him.
