Chapter 51 - Shane
With my fingers hovering over my laptop, I glance across the room at Deloris, who is still lying motionless on the bed. Then my eyes drift over the King, who is in the same state as my girlfriend.
I know I need to write a press release for the Queen, but I can’t help to keep throwing my feelings into the articles, too. I still haven’t finished an article yet, and I’m running out of time. Charles and the Queen have given me a deadline, but I keep holding myself back.
My focus turns back to Deloris, as a slight pain tugs at my heart. When will she wake up?
I shift my attention back to my notes beside my laptop. I guess I will start with the worst-case scenario, which at this point may be the most likely one to use.
I scan through everything regarding Charles taking the throne and being crowned the next king. I take a deep breath and begin typing.

I glance across the room at my father, who is still lying perfectly still in his bed. The monitors are still displaying various numbers along with his heartbeat. However, a little part of me wishes he would suddenly wake up so he can see this, even though this isn’t how it should be done. I lay down on the bed beside Deloris, who is sound asleep. Soft little snores fill the air as I stare at her and gently brush her hair out of her face. I sit up straight in bed, as Page adjusts the laptop on the tray in front of us, so we can see everything clearly. More equipment is off to the side on another table next to my bed. I tighten my hand around the edge of my seat while I tentatively sneak a glance over at Charles. His fingers are tightly wrapped around the steering wheel, and his knuckles are turning white.
