A Lie

Valeria and Shane stood outside the operating room, waiting for Fred's surgery to be over with. They didn't leave when the doctor asked them to.

Shane walked to Valeria, who was looking so tense and nervous, and she took her hand.

"Let's sit and wait, Val." She said.

"N n no, I'll wait here...I mean, I'm fine." Valeria said. Shane sighed.

"Let's sit." She said, and she pulled Valeria with her. They both went to sit on a chair outside the operating room.

"He'll be fine." Shantel said.

Valeria buried her face in her palms and she began sobbing quietly.

"Please God, don't let anything happen to my little boy, he's all I've got. Please lord, protect him for me," She prayed in tears.

Shane was patting her back in a comforting manner, at the same time, saying some words of encouragement to her.
