Present Day
“Lance,” a voice said from a distance. “Lance, wake up. We’re here.”
I opened my eyes to see it was Leila. I breathed a sigh of relief and leaned my head back against the headrest, Selestra and the events of the past long gone. I was here with Leila and with our son, Jase. “Oh, I’m sorry,” I said, rubbing my eyes. Then, I suddenly remembered falling asleep with Jase on my shoulder. “Jase!”

We spent the next few days in this way. I took Jase to the theme park every day while Leila stayed at the hotel to rest. By the time we were about to leave, she was looking much better, and Jase was an extremely happy little boy.
