A Promise

Liam POV

We pulled in front of our pack house and left the car with a clear rift between us. It was never good to be at odds when trying to outsmart Demetrius. I knew it no longer matter though. I felt like every trick I played to win a small victory with the Alpha Lycan was only because he let me. I was always his puppet and I knew I always would be.

"You killed their entire family!" I said the second I saw his face, desperately holding Maverick back from barring his teeth. Most of the time my wolf bowed to Demetrius, and even now in my immense anger I still felt him wanting to.

When Demetrius ruthlessly killed or stomped his boot of tyranny on others, my wolf felt like he was split in two. One, the loyal servant of something more powerful, and the other, a faithful leader to those that needed it.
