Chapter 29

NOAH.

As usual, I found Violette sitting near the window. I was informed that she went out today and took it as a sign that I could finally talk to her. Holding my breath, I rubbed my clammy hands to my clothes, wishing it could stop my heart from pounding like there was no tomorrow.

“Hi, Violette,” I said, almost stuttering.

She made a half turn, her eyes bore through me, judging and analyzing me. Gulping hard, I sauntered to her and kneeled before her. I reached for her hands and wrapped them in mine. I couldn’t face the sadness in her eyes, so I lowered my head like a coward.

“How are you?”

“Better than yesterday. Where have you been sleeping?” She asked back. Stroking my hair gently, making me flinch, then my muscle relax. She touched me. That’s another good sign.

“I’m with Varg all the time. You can ask him if you are doubtful. I also visited Nash to report my visit to Barlow’s manor.”

“I met with Luna Olivia, and I told her you kissed Lady Barlow—”

“She kiss—”

“I’m talking.” She
