DELVIN

Place yourself above anything else.

It was the first rule I had ever learnt growing up and it had been a part of me ever since.

In a way it was the one thing I’d kept to myself and promised to heed, and now it felt like I’d broken it.

Life without Laura had been with more ups than down, here I was in a state of absolute mess—

When I left the side of the table where I had been making the call I walked toward the side of the window wondering the last time I had seen him.

A year and a half, If I should count that last time I came across Steve.

Regardless, it felt good listening to his voice again…

I breathed hard, my arms folded across my chest as I glared ahead at the trees outside my window.

For some reason I wanted all of this to just go away, there was a feeling of loneliness which was quite strange because I had never felt this way.

No one else knew what was going on through my mind because I tried as hard as I could to numb this feeling.
