I open my eyes. I am drenched in sweat from the nightmare that I had. I turn around to lay on my back, but I feel a body behind me.
I turn around slowly and see that Evie has climbed into bed with me. She has tear stains on her face. I wake her up slowly.
"Evie, what is the matter?" I asked her with concern. She doesn't let anything phase her, so whatever made her cry must have been massive. She slowly opens her eyes. When she sees I am watching her closely she lets the tears flow once again.
"He.... he wasn't my mate." She says through her tears. I sit up straight. Did she have a boyfriend that we never knew about?
"Who wasn't your mate?" I pull her closer.
"Matt. He found his mate today and it wasn't me." She cries louder and my heart goes out to her. I know a few guys and girls that dated all trough out high school. They truly believed that they were mates until they turned 16 then they found out that it was not true.
