KATRINA
“Wow…” the kids exclaimed non-stop as Kane led us into the arena where the real magic was happening. As soon as we stepped in—showing our tickets—a whole new view of vibrantly colored floats and costumes with massive parades at every location presented themselves. There was an abundance of food, and music and the hearty festivities taking place could change the moods of anyone.Unusual traditional music was playing and we were at the end of the same lane where these skillful dancers were moving expertly, dressed in pulsating colors of white and yellow and headgear that was made out of different animal skins.Indigenes of Moonstone were drumming, playing flutes, and dancing with the parade as the main entertainers displayed their complicated but astonishing dance steps that put everyone in awe.The sun had been replaced with a moon but the day was still as bright as ever. This is how it is when the Great Hamza, or like my formerKATRINA I can’t believe Kane did that and I can’t believe I agreed. I also can’t believe I enjoyed it more than I should’ve and I also can’t believe I thought it was too quick, five minutes was definitely not enough but I also…‘We get it, Kat. Don’t have to rub it in our faces.’I rolled my eyes as the car pulled over in the parking lot of the packhouse. As soon as the doors opened, the kids jumped out and ran inside to tell Susanna all about their amazing day and also to meet their little nameless friend. I was undoubtedly tired after the long stressful day but the voice of the man beside me had more effect than ten shots of coffee.‘Really?’‘Maybe five shots… or one.’“You ran away from the rides. I thought you were meant to be fearless.”We climbed up the stairs to enter the mansion part of the packhouse and I glowered at him. “What do you mean?” I asked defensively. “I rode on the teacups, the bumper rides… and even the carousels.”I could tell from his face that he was holdin
KATRINA“Answer our question, Kane?” Madeline asked with an interested smile loafing on her face. I was not going to sit down and listen to this sh*t. “He has nothing to answer to!” I automatically got on my feet, looking from one face to another—bewildered. “There’s no sense in what you’re saying! Why would Kane even kill Carissa?!”Fraser snapped at me, attracting my attention to him. “That’s what we want to find out. Now if you’d sit down and let us ask him…”“No! You’re not asking him anything!”“Katrina, please sit. Let us talk mutually,” Elder Sesan said. I held my tongue so I wouldn’t cut him in due to him being the only one I respected in the council.“Sesan, please stop this! I-I…” Goddess, I was so confused and it was like the council, that dumb footage and the whole sh*tty evidence they found was playing on my intelligence.Kane stared at me the whole time, not saying anything and I couldn’t tell if he was dumbfounded, or waiting for something. “Katrina, please sit.” With
KANEAnger. It was all I felt. My daggering eyes were on Ian, the monster behind everything. I knew he was an a*shole but I couldn’t believe he’d stoop so low to do this. How dare he?! He’s made Katrina hate me for no reason, f*ck!What does Katrina think of me now? Does she believe I can do this? It doesn’t help that I don’t have a great history with her.I’ve tried mind-linking her several times but she wouldn’t answer until she eventually shut me out. Everything was going so well. Katrina was starting to believe in me again but Ian…“Kane, you haven’t answered us.” For the past few minutes, the council had been hounding me with questions. The only problem was I had no answers for them. “Why did you kill Ms. Watson?” Fraser asked for the fifth time.“I didn’t kill her,” I repeated between gritted teeth, wishing I could let my fangs out and cut Ian’s head off.Madeline hissed while Penelope cast a nasty scowl at her. “We don’t have all day. Besides, we’ve mentioned no punishment. Wha
KATRINA“I think the kids would love that…” I looked around, scanning the room for them. “Where are they anyway?”Susanna’s room was oddly bright today and she had managed to remove every ounce of dough from the explosion. I hadn’t seen her so joyful and I knew it had something to do with tomorrow. It was early evening but the dying sunlight still shined through the open windows. Susanna was mixing something for the kids, of course, and unfortunately, it wasn’t muffins. She called it orange crush pound cake and that made the whole room smell of orange soda and vanilla extract.I watched what she did closely in case she ‘unintentionally’ added wolfsbang in it. I was also able to give the kids a good scolding for what they did. It would’ve been longer and worse if not for Susanna’s interference.“They said they were going to Kane’s room. They were very giggly about it.” I’ve seen Susanna in aprons more than I have in normal clothes. This time she wore a yellow sheath with a white apron
KATRINAI was right, I couldn’t sleep.I spent most of yesterday evening scolding the kids about what they did. It wasn’t funny and though they looked remorseful, it only lasted for a minute. I sensed they suspected that Kane and I were ‘fighting’ so they tried to ‘bring us together’. Not sure if it was successful though.‘It wasn’t.’‘Thanks for pointing out the ‘obvious’.The kids had always been mischievous but their tricks reduced ever since we came to the packhouse. But now, they were comfortable enough to start their pranks again. At least I had a break. On their demand, I stayed in their room because they thought it would help me sleep since I had mistakenly slipped my sleeping problem to them. It was cute that they tried to help but there was no hope for that.Hilda read a story to us and I pretended to sleep for thirty minutes so they would sleep as well. When the coast was clear, I opened my eyes again and thought about the next day u
KATRINAWho will be the chosen one?It was a simple question but there’d be grave consequences if a mistake occurred. Not only would my kids and I suffer for it, but the pack as a whole. A worthy wolf would also be hanged to death.“You’ve had plenty of time to think before now, Katrina. We don’t want to waste any more time now, do we?” Madeline snapped at me, seeming greatly impatient.Penelope talked before Elder Sesan could say a word. “This is a very delicate decision. Even at the last second, it needs proper thinking. You shouldn’t rush…”“And who asked you to speak?” Fraser turned to her while I watched them with grazing eyes. “You never have anything sensible to say.”“She is right, Fraser.” All attention returned to Sesan when his words came out. “A decision made in haste would yield frightening results. We must not hasten her.”Fraser sneered while Penelope glared at Madeline for some time before catching me loo
KANE I didn’t understand a f*cking thing that was happening but the way my life changed from ‘waiting for death’ to ‘becoming Alpha’ left me in shock. I was not expecting it and what I loved most right now was how Katrina held my hand bossily.Dragging me along with her… with serious a*s movements that drove me nuts.‘I see empty rooms all around us?’‘Not a f*cking word from you.’But as much as I enjoyed this moment and didn’t want it to end, I had to know what the hell was happening. The excitement, sex drive, and curiosity were killing me.“You have to tell me what’s going on? Can you hear how hard my heart is beating?”I sensed her rolling her eyes because her back was to me, and I admired her beautiful and lengthier caramel blonde hair. “Be patient, would you?”I didn’t want to stop her because she was so anxious but I had to do something.“Explain while we’re going. If you don’t, I might die before we reach there.”She turned to me, a glare locked on her face before she shook
KATRINAFor a second there, I felt complete emptiness. What was I saying? I couldn’t even feel myself. I went numb and it didn’t ‘feel like’ because something had definitely been pulled out of me. It came like eternal peace but I began to worry when I got my senses back and still couldn’t move.Thankfully, Kane caught me and the world was colorful again. My nerves were working again. I was still recovering but Kane helped me to my feet and his touch brought me back to life. His aura was stronger than ever and the one thing that was once shared among three, then two… all belonged to him. It was a pulling attraction, which I could barely control. Was this how it felt to have one mate? The one you truly deserved. “What did you do, Kat?” Kane asked, and he seemed to have turned slightly pale as well.I muttered silently, smiling, “What I should have done a long time ago.”Ian wasn’t taking this well. He screamed like he was burn
