I never quite understood why William was so kind to me.

I couldn't recall anyone treating me this way before.

Our interactions were limited to breakfast, and it seemed absurd that he could develop feelings for me just because of breakfast.

One afternoon after school, I couldn't resist sharing my thoughts with him. His demeanor instantly changed to a somber one.

"Once, my grandmother lived here. I had been here a few times. The last time, I was playing by the street when a human trafficker tried to grab me. It was you who suddenly appeared, grabbed my hand, and took me back to the courtyard. Don't you remember?" he said.

I scratched my head, realizing that I had little recollection of the incident.

However, his words triggered a faint memory, as if there was indeed such an event.

I couldn't recall the exact details, but I might have wanted to play with him back then just because he was good-looking.

"Well, that surprised me. I thought you liked me because I bought your breakfast," I
