44. I AM THE ONE

It's been four months since Emery got pregnant, and her baby bump was already shooting out. Benhail had gotten much better and was back to working at the office. He had implored her not to talk about his illness to him, he only wanted to be reminded of the good things that were happening in his life; Emery and the baby.

Benhail smiled when he remembered the look on his face the first time Emery felt the baby kicking. She had hurried to his study, squealing and urging him to feel the movements of the tiny human that was inside of her.

It was a big celebration for them, and he promised to do all within and out of his power to make sure the baby and Emery were safe. He was still lost in thoughts, oblivious of Mariana's presence in his office.

She drew out an armchair, and the screeching sound of the chair caused him to jolt out of his thoughts.

"You must be very happy with those smiles on your face," she said, crossing her legs.
