"Please..." I breathed, transfixed to the spot. He stopped right in front of me. He was so close and I was trying not to panic. He sniffed me and I closed my eyes. As soon as I closed my eyes, he snarled at me. My eyes flew open at once. I placed a shaky hand on his neck, my fingers sinking into fur as black as midnight.

"It's me, Jaden. I'm your mate. Yours" I whispered.

He moved away from me and started to circle me, his movements slow and calculated. I swallowed hard, trying to relax. That was a hard task, considering the complexity of the situation.

'He won't hurt me' I mentally chanted those words like a mantra. He started to approach me again. This time, I sank to my knees in front of him. He sniffed me again and took one step backwards.

'I'm sorry' Jaden's voice echoed in my mind.

I shook my head and held out a hand to him.

"You don't have to be sorry about anything" I said and he walked up to me, letting me caress his fur.
