Chapter Twenty Six

(NATASHA'S POV)

Diego was in the room with me, and I had to wait patiently for him to go before I engaged in the mission. It had been so long since I killed, and the bloodlust was getting out of control, yet I had to look and act naturally.

"You would be joining us for dinner this evening," he says, and I couldn't help but feel a taste of disappointment.

"Why can't I eat here, in this room?"

He turned to me, a smile on his face. "Are you shy? It's alright to be and very understandable too; they are all new people, and I doubt you have been surrounded by this many new faces for sometime," he says, and he was right. "But everyone has been waiting to get a good look at you, and I think this is important, but if you aren't ready yet..."

"It's okay. I would go with you, and no, I am not shy, just not ready yet."

He nodded.

"If I may ask, the woman who was placed in a cell besides me, why was she there?"

"For being a bad mother," he says, and I give him a pointed look. "She deceived us."
