ANOTHER MATE?

“Ahh,” she groaned out in pain, managing to stand up from where she fell too and towards the end corner of the room.

The walls of everywhere had always given her solace, it didn’t matter where or when, she found peace in cold walls and under the blanket of her bed. The tears she had been trying to compress poured down her face. Why couldn’t something work for her? Her memories could have stayed hidden and allowed her to enjoy more but why! Why didn’t it stay hidden?

Why did something have to interrupt her death plan? Why did she have to stumble on her father’s foot that day and be tortured with 36 whip lashes. Or why did she have to be dressed stupidly by the maid and end up hated by her father?

“Why! Why!” She yelled out as the tears continued to stream down her face.

There was no one to blame but the moon goddess, causing her to be born on her day and leaving her with nothing. She couldn’t get a whole day without getting injured, or yelled oat, or have someone trample on her. She curled her legs to her chest, wrapping her arms around it as she waited for them to come back.

What was the essence of living when there was nothing good to show off of? All she had to show off was the pains her father had inflicted on her, the marks of his nails piercing into her skin and his whip drumming against every part of her.

Suddenly she heard someone rush in and raised her head to see a guard who was not in the uniform of Lucien guards.

“Wh…who…who..are you…” she stuttered, standing up and moving away from him.

He was putting on a mask, and she couldn’t get a clear picture of him.

“Stay where you are and this would be easy for both of us.” She heard him say.

She shook her head. This was not happening again. Why! Why couldn’t she just suffer in one place. Why does she have to move from one hand to another and suffer in every one of their hands? Was this a punishment from the moon goddess herself?

Lost in her thoughts of blaming her existence, the guard moved towards her, covering her mouth with a white handkerchief. Stacey felt all of her body go limp in his hand, and the last thing she saw was his green eyes staring directly at hers as he took the mask off.

“Father! I promise you! This is the last time! This would be the last time something like this happens! I would be the girl you want, even turn to a slave if you want it!” She yelled out, her screams ending up in nothing as another whip landed on her back.

“You useless thing! Always disgracing me in front of everyone!” She heard him say, the anger in his eyes terrifying her to her inner core.

“He..he..tried…he..tried to rape me.. father..he tried..”

“What essence do you have! You could at least be useful for that one and bring us riches. But you had to injure him!” He retorted, hitting her with her fist.

She screamed out, the highest she had ever done in her life as her eyes opened. Her chest fell and rose, sweats beaded on her forehead and tears streaming down her eyes. It was here again. The haunting memories that never allowed her to sleep in the night, and the pain her father inflicted on her that refused to let go of her.

She continued to heave in and out, trying to calm herself and settle in when she found out she was in another room. She glanced around her. Different from the ones she had stayed in, this was beautifully decorated, a bedside stand at the corner of a room, and a makeup stand. She glanced down at the bed, surprised by how big it was.

Even in her father’s pack, she slept in the same bed the maid used, small that barely contained her body. And at Lucien’s pack, she…

The thought of Lucien made her spring up from the bed and towards the door. The memrlriws of the last event rushed to her brain, and the image of the masked man in her head. Was she to be killed again?

She had just opened the door when she felt something drawing closer to her. Something was changing in her, and her wolf was getting excited about it. She glanced through the hallway, her room was the last on the row.

Her feet moved stealthily across it, and her heat was beating too loud on her chest. Everything was straightforward, and it gave her a hope she didn’t think she still had in her. Clenching her fist to herself, she continued walking, increasing her pace.

It seemed like everyone had gone to sleep because of how late it was, and it was the perfect opportunity for her to escape, find a better life for herself and leave the troubles alone. A sad small smile crept to her lips at the thought of it, maybe this time she would find happiness, and find someone who loves her no matter what.

She halted in her steps suddenly. Turning to the side and seeing a magnificent door that was some inches away from her. It seemed different, and something was pulling her towards the door.

“We can’t do this now,” she mindlinked her wolf as she trembled inside.

She could see the stairs that were some inches away from her, and the door that she badly wanted to open. She had just taken a step towards the door when someone opened it and a face came into view.

His aura was different from the others she had met, and his light blue eyes that stared into hers contained an emotion she couldn’t decipher. But there was a feeling that was both known to them, opening their mouth to say it together,

“Mate.”
