Chapter 71: Kitana

Iris POV

"How could he have said that to me?" I echoed tearfully, running out of the elevator to my room. The tears streaming down my face had made a mess of the make-up, but that was the least of my pressing concerns. More over, make-ups were worn by women who were happy with their lives, and the people around them. I wasn't happy with my life, neither were the people stationed around me any better than the dickheads back in my home pack.

I was a fool to have been blinded by the deceptive foray of Gustav's charms. He was the same jerk who had chained me to the cold walls of a dungeon, and had split my skull in half. He said he'd changed, that I'd changed him. He said he'd make things right between us, that I'd never have the occasion to doubt him. I'd given my all to the do-over, giving him the chance he had requested.

But again, I was a fool to have expected the chameleon to be true to a colour. And his colour was red. The deep red of hell.
