Chapter 38

HAZEL

The first thing on my mind when I get out of bed is to go to the school, but I push the thought away immediately. How foolish will I be to try to push away the people who actually accepted me for the first time in a very long time?

Because the others saw me when I got back yesterday, I’m sure that they will decide to follow me if I leave today to see what’s going on. That is just how they are when it comes to bullying me. They take it over the top, and they know that there is nothing that I can do about it.

“Looks like I’ll just spend my day alone.” I sigh as I notice a bird flapping its wings against my window. It lands on the window sill and pecks the surface a few times before flying away.

At least it has the freedom to do whatever it wants without getting a hater or being judged. What wouldn’t I give to be a little bird right now?
