Chapter 39

HAZEL

When I sit back on the garden chair, I can honestly say that I feel every part of my body throbbing in pain. Francesca attacked me out of nowhere with her friends. I know that she never liked me, mostly because nobody seems to, but she has never come up to me to hit me like this.

And I’ll have to admit that she hits harder than both Cathy and Gwen combined, and it doesn’t help that she had her friends join in beating me too. It’s a pity. I should have stayed in instead, knowing that the girls never leave me for long before they start something else.

I laugh humorlessly and hold my sides before my laughter turns into a cough. I have always known that the maids will once again turn their backs on me, but I did not expect it to be so soon.

The first hit came as a shock when she slapped me. I thought she would talk a little bit and leave, but the next thing I knew, I was being surrounded by others who beat me up like I’m not a living person like them.

But I made a resolution earlier
