Chapter 2

Jeanette’s Pov

It was just another day in my life. I could feel my own dried up blood on my skin as I struggled to open my eyes. My aching body was not doing me any favors and the cold tiles of my kitchen floor weren't making the situation any better. I heard his footsteps coming towards me. I tried to crawl away but it was too late…..

“Jeanette” I heard Ryan’s voice and I opened my eyes.

“You okay?” Ryan asked.

“Ya I was just……thinking”

“There is someone here to meet you”

“I will be out in a few minutes”

Some painful memories are better forgotten but some painful memories are to be remembered over and over again until it stops to sting. Unfortunately most of my memories are of the second type but don’t get me wrong I am not complaining at all because it made me who I am today so it was a blessing in disguise.

I got up and walked into my living room only to be greeted by young and beautiful women in her twenties.

“Hello Mam I am Emily a reporter I would like an interview with you”

“Of course why not, have a seat”

By this point this was a common occurrence in my day to day life. I didn’t even care who she was or for whom she worked. Unlike other celebrities I loved giving interviews and talking about my life mainly because I hoped people could learn from my mistakes and get the help that I never got at the right time.

“Tell me, what do you wanna know?”

“Let’s start with your childhood most of your extended family remember you as a rich spoiled brat, according to them you used to drive your parents crazy”

“Well……….”

_Flashback_

I was shaking as I saw my dad hitting my mom. I crouched in a corner as he came towards me with a belt my mom held onto his leg and begged him to stop. I remember being pulled up by my hair and being pushed towards a table before I blacked out.

“I could have been a little difficult” I said.

“Many of your classmates remember you as crazy and a girl with anger issues would you say it was true?”

_Flashback_

I pressed my palms over my mouth and tried to suppress my sobbing as I hid inside a small toilet stall in our school bathroom. I jerked when my bullies knocked on the stall door.

“Come out you wimpy Vampire” they shouted and yes they called me a Vampire because of my red eyes.

I shivered when they threw a bucket of cold water over the stall door but made sure not to make a single noise. After a while I heard them leave. I waited for a while and stepped outside. I was disheartened seeing my reflection on the mirror. I was drenching wet, my eyes were puffy and my hair had chewing gum in it which would later force me to cut a whole chunk of my beautiful hair feeling helpless I started crying.

_Flashback ends_

“Maybe, everyone's a little crazy in their childhood”

“You are lying right?”

I just smiled.

“Now can we start discussing the truth?”

“Okay fine”

_Flashback_

“I think we could style it pretty nicely, don't worry” the women at the salon said.

“Thank you” I said.

“Is there anything else you wanna get done?”

She asked, I thought for a while and said.

“Actually there is something…”

“I remember every single moment of the next day I stepped out of my car wearing black and embracing my new red hair, it didn’t took long for the bullies to approach me but this time I fought back vigorously within a few seconds some of them were laying on the floor after being beaten up and some of them had ran away and that day for the first time in my life I felt powerful I felt I could deal with anything that came my way…….little did I knew back then that I would need all that strength and more for what was about to come”
