NANCY'S POV
I was scared shitless, with no idea of what I should do, but I couldn't leave him here, alone, for some reason.
He looked so big and dangerous but he was also badly injured and I couldn't move - to or away from him.
He growled again in his pain and I grimaced, the tiny furs covering his right fore limb were stained in his own blood.
His dark eyes with their glowing gold ring bored into mine as I tried to remember every reason I shouldn't go any closer to him.
His kind had killed my family.
They'd stormed in on that cold night and had gutted my parents. They'd killed Kelvin, and he'd just been three fucking years old.
I should leave him here to die. He'd probably kill me too once he realises I'm not a werewolf like him but an ordinary human.
Why the fuck did I leave my safe haven in the first place for this pointless satiation of curiosity, with only my courage and my survival kit that's more of a backpack with me.
I'll probably get killed by one of these wolves now or worse, get spotted and taken by the agency that every living human have been warned about.
I don't want to end up dead or as a lab rat.
I need to find out who killed my parents.
I need to find out why they did it.
And I want to watch them suffer every single day of their life for what they did to my baby brother!
Sweet, little, innocent Kelvin...
A deep growl jolted me out of that aggravating memory lane.
I wonder what he'd been injured with.
Aren't werewolves supposed to heal up so fast you'd think they'd never been hurt before?
Then why isn't he healing?
I move involuntarily closer to him, fear engulfing me as I did.
He looked so big and ferocious even in his pains, and he's by far the biggest of them I've seen so far.
His dark furs shone in the light produced by the full, imposing moon and my handy flash light and I itched to push my fingers through it and feel it's softness.
The full moon!
Shit, I shouldn't be out on a fucking full moon. That's when most werewolves shift into their wolf form and it could get really dangerous for us humans.
And here I am!
I dropped on my knees beside him and when he didn't strike out, I reached out to touch him.
I examined his injury. There was a deep gash on that limb and on a closer look, I discovered there were others just as bad covering his body, the furs around them matted with dried blood.
Why isn't he changing back to his human form? I panicked in my head.
He was calm and steady as he let me examine him, taking it like the big boy he is- literally.
That's a good sign, right?
Fuck!
Right on his side, was another bleeding cut and in it embedded a silver arrow head with only a small part of it visible to an inquisitive eye.
Ahha, finally, a sensible explanation for his inability to heal.
I have to figure out how to get it out of him fast because if everything I've learned of his kind is true, leaving this buried in him for much longer can actually kill him.
I find the thought of having him die on my watch surprisingly disturbing.
I mean, it's not like I'd even recognise him when he's all healed up and back in his human form but it did bother me that he could die right here.
Might be because we are a kind of kindred spirits. We're alone and left to fight our battles ourselves in this cruel word, worse fated for me than him.
It's not like this night would matter in any future to either of us.
Not like it would change the fact that now being human makes me a fucking minority, a target for an experiment whose result can only help his kind.
Some messed up kindred spirit we turned out to be.
My heart beat a tattoo against my chest as I reached out my hand to stroke his head briefly.
He leaned into my hand, howling from what I guess was still pain.
He must be some calm, geeky guy in his human form, I imagined.
What the hell am I doing stroking him and imagining what he'd be like in his human form!?
He's probably gonna die if I don't do shit about that silver in his side.
"I'm going to take care of you now, big guy." I explained as I deftly pulled my survival kit and rummaged through the jumbled mess I'd made packing it.
I grabbed the small clamp like device I'd thrown in earlier for no reason at all.
Thank God I did.
He made a small sound and nuzzled into me as I fell back on his side again, the hurt one this time.
"It's okay now, it'll only hurt a little and then you'll be fine." I muttered, hoping to God he understands.
The clamp looked perfect for pulling the arrow head out of him.
I hope he start healing up after this because there's not much more I can do for him besides basic human first aid.
And I can't stay out much longer.
With the aid of my dimming flash light, I fit the clamp around the visible part of the silver arrow head and pulled.
He was being surprisingly calm with this.
How the hell had he gotten this stuck in him in the first place?
Had he been in a fight or something?
And what would a probably would be geeky guy be doing fighting?
He's probably as big as his wolf and maybe that's why he'd been thrown in.
I pulled again, making a little progress as the silver piece moved.
I tried again, going as hard as I could and then it finally came free.
There was only a little howl betraying his pain right at the end and then nothing.
"There you go, big guy," I cheered.
"And you took it with good graces fit of a warrior. You must be a whole lot hella stronger than I first thought. What happened to you anyways?"
He responded with a growl.
"Easy there boy." I muttered, a tad bit afraid of how ferocious it had sounded.
"No eating me, I just saved your wolf-y ass."
I took more supplies from my bag and tidied up his cuts as best as I could.
Wow, they were already showing good signs of healing.
This ability of easy regeneration and quicker healing is one thing I envy his kind.
If mom and dad had had it, they might still be here for me now.
And Kelvin......
I stood abruptly from his side and moved away.
I've graced humanity by staying put and helping get rid of the alien element in his body, inhibiting that wonderful regenerative abilities and fast healing.
But there's no way I'm staying any longer than necessary now. There'd be no guarantee I wouldn't drive that silver back into him at the rate memories of my ugly past was rearing their head.
His kind had done it!
But he didn't do it.........probably, I reasoned.
And it wouldn't bring them back to me.
"I hope you get better now and make it out of here."
I started picking up my stuffs that lay around the ground and stuffed them back in my bag.
"And I hope you understand that I can't stay."
I pulled it on my back.
I can't risk being caught here, not after I've spent half my life hiding.
With one last glance at my big, gray wolf patient and his already healing injuries, I turned and began hiking my way back home.
This night didn't go anyway like I'd imagined it.
So much for snooping around when I really shouldn't have.
The night got darker as the power of my flashlight died down more by each passing minute.
What the fuck! Not now please.
I begin to walk faster, then broke out into a full run as I tried to see my way out out of this thicket.
That's when I heard it, the unmistakable sound of swooshing rotor blades, like a helicopter was really close to my current position.
Then there was that loud beep sound that was to humans like silver to werewolves.
Holy shit, I've been spotted.
That beep was followed by the pointing of a sharp, piercing red ray at my running figure.
And I knew.
Whoever is in that air craft have found me and they know too, what I did.
They know I'm not a werewolf. They know I'm just a helpless, little human and they are going to try to take me.
Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!!
I don't want to be taken.
Save me God.
How the hell did I let this happen?
Now I'm going to die without getting my answers, no reasons, no vengeance for their death.
I tore my way through this forest at my best speed yet. At least I have the added advantage of easier navigation.
They'll have a problem landing that machine in here, or flying low enough to grab me.
I'm going to fail the most important people to me by dying now.
But it'll only be a matter of time before they have me in their clutches, tearing me apart and testing ways to improve their specie with my flesh and blood and the DNA that I've been passed.
Shit!
That is gonna be one messed up way to go.
NANCY'S POVI think I lost them somewhere, right before I made it home.I shouldn't have gone out in the first place, I shouldn't have stayed out.Now look the shit I've landed myself in.I doubt it'd be long before they find me here.I've heard they use very advanced technological equipments that can even detect their prey's location anywhere using just their body's heat wave.Without a second thought, I start throwing my few most essential stuffs into my backpack.I turned my phone off and threw it in my waste bin, taking only my line with me.It should be impossible to track a dead phone, but even if they somehow can, it would lead them right here.My hands shook as I filled my backpack and zipped it close.I lifted my small makeshift bed and pulled out the small safe I've been keeping there and emptied my
NANCY'S POVWhatever this place is, I was about to find out.But first, we'd have to get past this big, black gate restricting our entrance into the house. And instead of knocking on the said gate like every averagely normal being would, my mule headed and mute captor just stood there, glaring at it.“Okay, voila, here we are.” I exclaimed as dramatically as I could manage with both my hands now in his grasp.“Are we supposed to wish ourselves inside it or what?”There was that answering silence I was becoming accustomed to, but I wasn't about to let it daunt my spirit. My feet hurt badly from having walked so long, and an excruciatingly long distance at that.I just want a place to curl up and sleep away this ache. Plenty food will go a long way too but I doubt prisoners are allowed such luxury.I plan to settle for anything
AARON'S POVThe events of today went through my head as I made my way up to my room.Gerald, that motherfucker. His betraying ass have never belonged in my pack and he just proved what a little shit he is.The asshole was supposed to be fighting by my side, but he'd been the hand that shot at me with a lethal weapon and an aim to kill. He'd live the rest of his life watching his back every second from now because I never leave a debt unpaid, and I never leave a favor unreturned. In his betrayal, he'd helped me finally find her and for that, I'll make his death slow, painful and excruciating until he begs to be killed and I'll only draw it out longer. And the last thing he'd see before he close his eyes in his miserable death will be my face and the face of my wolf who he dared to betray.A silver arrow for a life and that will be his.
NANCY'S POVI took the stairs back up to my room in a daze.It was him.Dark eyes with smoldering gold rings, they were the same as the eyes of my wolf in the woods. My should be geeky guy was.....him?My first impression of him couldn't have been more wrong and this taciturn, angry block of solid masculinity that had kidnapped me from my home, couldn't have been more different from what I'd expected. It was all slowly begining to make sense to me- the silver arrow head, his assumed death by his pack members and even my kidnap. The small pieces were fitting into place and I was getting a little clearer picture. His words swirled around in my head, his answers clouding my thought."You saved me last night and that in my book is a debt worth repaying." He'd said."I owe you my life and when I heard those guys, I knew
NANCY'S POVThe offer I'd made to Maya haunted me as I got ready for the party.I'd really needed her help and the girl had looked about bailing on me and I'd had no choice. Now I have to find a way to get my 'mule head' captor to dance with innocent looking Maya who's obviously eating her heart out on him.The things I get myself into though.I sighed as I pulled the dress I'd been given down my body.Whoever this Amelia is, she must have some sort of magic or amazing sixth sense to have gotten my perfect size. The dress looked beautiful and if I was the girlie girl type, I'd have fawned over all the intricacies and complicated but beautiful designs she'd put on this.I only have minutes counting down from the time I'd been given.Don't even ask what I'd done with the first hour.
AARON'S POVFrom the moment those doors opened and let Laura in, this party have turned every kind of sour in the book for me.Her clingy ass has been all over me since she sauntered in here and I'm so close to loosing my shit with her.The only reason I'm still down here anyways is that I'm hoping that bastard Gerald drags his sorry ass through those doors.I haven't seen that fucker since that night and I'm getting impatient waiting for his ass to walk into my trap. The way I feel now, I might decide fuck it and go fetch the asshole myself and make him taste his fucking death before I feed it to him."Hey baby, you look so tense."I lazily lift my eyes to the direction of the annoying purr and its pestering owner.Raising a brow at her, I took a swig of of the drink I've been swirling in my glass. She tilted her lips up in what I'
NANCY'S POVI woke up with a throbbing head threatening to blow and bloodshot eyes that hurt whenever I open them. What had I been thinking drinking like a fish last night?Oh yeah, I'd needed all the alcohol I could get to survive high and mighty Alpha Aaron last night.Dude, he's even more stuck up and conceited than I'd initially perceived him to be.I rolled out of bed, dragging my ass to the bathroom, as memories from last night stormed my already aching head.Everything had been going just fine, with me slightly buzzed and totally free in Derek's arms, but then he'd decided it would be rude not to go meet with our host, Aaron and he'd frigging taken me along. For all the troubles he went to inviting me to this, he looked angry seeing me there.Well, for your info mug head, the feeling is mutual! In all my denial though, the ma
NANCY'S POVI'm not sure how long I was out for, but I was very delirious when I came to and my eyes hurt too much to keep open.My head hurt and I could hear voices around me, even though I couldn't make out what was being said.I wanted to wake, I tried to, but it was taking too much energy to even do that. And slowly I lost and went crawling back into the welcoming arms of oblivion again. The next time I came to, the voices in the room were gone and there was pin drop silence. This time I was more determined to stay awake and I wanted to have my eyes open while at it.My head hurt as I moved it.Slowly, I drew my eyelids apart, opening my eyes for the first time since I've been out.My mind was fuzzy as my eyes took in my surrounding but I knew one thing for sure, this wasn't my room.At least, not the one I'd be
