Bed Warmer

Lina was out of breath and panting, yet, she couldn’t take a moment to stop to catch her breath. The red moon that adorned the night sky was simply breathtaking to stare but it didn’t do anything to light the ground she was running on. She felt a piece of wood break her skin when a dry tree branch that she stepped on broke; she flinched with the pain but she didn’t stop running. They are coming. She doesn’t know who or what they are but they are coming to get her. She had no idea how she knew but she simply followed her instinct.

“Hah, hah,” she bent down, her hands pressed on her knees. Sweat pooled under her eyes and her forehead, hindering her eyesight, making it more difficult to run. She didn’t want to stop but her chest felt like it was going to burst. She was palpitating and shivering in fear of the unseen danger.

She was about to straighten her back to run again when she heard a wild animal growling behind her and her body involuntarily shuddered in terror. “
