The library had already closed, but some lights inside were still on, casting a warm and clear silhouette from behind him.

His features were hidden in the play of light and shadow, but this smile was exceptionally familiar.

His way of speaking and the crispness with which he called my name brought back a nearly forgotten memory from the deepest recesses of my mind, bit by bit.

After my mother's death, I returned to my father's house.
