It never ceased to amaze me how huge the Shadow Veil packhouse was. Most of the pack resided there, outside of Master Wade and Slaughter. Master Slaughter lived close by and would stay for prolonged periods when the situation called for it. I had assumed that whatever was going on of late constrained him to be there now.

There were no cars outside save Master Slaughter’s, but I could tell that the front room was packed with wolves.
