Chapter Seventy-One

Valerie shoved thoughts of Dean out of her mind, hoping to enjoy her weekend without having her stomach in knots the entire time. Luckily, her neighbor—and now her teacher’s aide—kept his distance for the rest of the day Friday and all day Saturday. By the time Damien called her up to his apartment, she had forgotten all about what could happen Monday morning at the school.

When she opened the door to Damien’s apartment, he was sitting in his recliner and Nick, Keith, and Miles were taking up the sofa and the other recliner.
