Chapter Thirty-Eight

When Valerie pulled up into the parking lot of her apartment, she noticed Damien’s car was there, but Holly’s wasn’t. She blew out a breath of relief, hoping that meant she had time to talk to Damien and inform him of her conversation with Holly last night.

She quickly threw her car into park and slid out into the sticky Florida air. She wasn’t sure just how much time she had before Holly got home, not knowing what had made the woman late for work that morning, and she sure as hell didn’t want to get caught in their apartment when the redhead returned. Not with how suspicious Holly was already. She didn’t even want the other woman to detect a whiff of her perfume or lotion.

Valerie didn’t even stop at her apartment to drop off her purse, not wanting to waste any more time than she already had trying to convince Nick to let her go. That was a deal she knew she would pay for severely.
