Chapter Twenty-Two

Scott led her out to the dance floor just as the music shifted into a slow tune. He didn’t give her a chance to back out, either, but rather turned her until she stood in front of him and slid his hands around her waist. She tensed for a moment, realizing she was breaking one of her rules, but her hesitation only lasted a second before she slid her arms up and around his neck, their bodies swaying as they spun in a slow circle.

“You all right?” he asked, tilting his head to the side slightly as he studied her. “You feel tense. Would you rather we stop?”

She shook her head, feeling a slight blush warm her cheeks. “No, I’m fine,” she assured him. “It’s just been a while since anything sweet like this happened to me. My husband was more of a brute in his mannerisms than anything else.”
