Emily still can't get over the fact that I just met my mate. The look that she is giving me right now is showing me that she is still in shock.
"And you let him go just like that?" she asks me with utter disbelief in her voice.
"Come on. I just met him," I reply, but in reality, I wish I had followed him to wherever he was going.
"Why is that an excuse? He is your mate so it doesn't matter if you met right now or years ago," she says.
"If he is my mate, then we will have to meet again, eventually," I tell her with a hopeful smile. I hope the moment comes soon.
I can still feel his cold but smooth hand caressing my cheek. I want to feel that again. I haven't told Emily that he is a vampire, or else she will freak out. We all know how father hates vampires.
Vampires and werewolves have never been on good terms. The werewolves haunted the vampires and vice versa. Since they are all immortal, the conflicts went on forever.
I know very well how much father has always wished that I could get a fancy Alpha mate from a great pack. Not that he cares so much about my well-being. He just wants to expand his connections and get more Allies.
Father cares so much about my elder brother, Jason because he is his successor. He gives him all his time and attention to groom him into a strong man. He wants him to be a powerful Alpha someday.
I am not jealous of his identity as the next Alpha of the Halfmoon pack. I don't give a damn about politics anyway. Even the little attention that my father gives me is stressful enough. He wants me to be a smart Lady and get an Alpha mate, which I don't want. I don't want to run from a political house and join another.
All I ever wanted was a mate who cared about me and would give me unconditional love. Whether Rogue, human, or werewolf, I don't mind. Now my choice has come out of the box. He is a vampire. I know dad will fume when he finds out.
"Have you been paying attention to what I have been saying?" Emily snaps me out of my reverie. I had already forgotten about her.
"What?" I ask out of confusion. Damn, this mate bond has got me daydreaming. Well, it is already nighttime. Emily just shakes her head in disbelief.
"I was saying that when are you going to introduce him to the pack? At least to me. I am your best friend, right? You are the first person I introduced to Matt," she says.
"Come on. I also just met him. We didn't get to talk much. God! I didn't even ask him his name," I say.
"Oh, I hope I wasn't the cause," she says while scratching the back of her neck. Of course, you were! I shout in my head but I don't say it. I just give her a small smile and we walk away.
My father is planning the engagement party for my brother, Jason with his mate Riley. The whole pack is busy with preparations. I heard that he has invited many Alphas and their Betas, especially the unmated ones hoping that I will be able to find my mate. I am still debating on whether to tell him that I have already found my mate or to just keep quiet.
The moment my father finds out that I have found him, he will do anything to find him. He will be eager to find out where he lives, his status, and if he is from a power pack or not. I don't know if he will be disappointed or angry when he finds out that he is a vampire.
My head has been buzzing with thoughts since I met the sexy vampire in the Alley near the mall. My wolf is extremely restless. She wants to be with her mate, but I still have to put myself together. I don't even know where he lives.
What if it was all a mistake? I mean it was very brief, almost as if it never happened. The ghostly remainders if his touch still lingers on my skin and his sweet scent is still around me. Gosh! I feel like a drunkard.
I get out of my room after trying to get him off my mind but in vain. I know a quick run in the woods will do me some relief. My wolf will be finally free from being locked inside with all those emotions.
I walk down the long wound staircase in the main pack house. The house is pretty huge because many wolves live here. The packed house is where the Alpha and Luna live with their family. Also, visitors from other packs stay there during their time of staying. Most pack celebrations are held inside. That is where my brother's engagement is going to be held here.
It is late in the night: past midnight, but I haven't been able to get a tiny bit of sleep. I feel very alive. I walk into the woods and remove all my clothes. The moon is shining brightly in the sky so the woods aren't that dark. I am transformed into my wolf which surfaces with a howl.
My wolf is a big silver-grey wolf with a pure white tail and face. That is what my mother's wolf looked like. She was killed in a pack war five years ago, but all the memories we created together are still fresh in my mind.
I run through the woods, down towards the stream in hopes of getting my mind cleared. The air is very refreshing as it runs through my fur giving me the comfort I am looking for.
The sweet scent from a few hours ago fills my nostrils again making them flare. Mmm, my wolf purrs at the smell of her mate. She follows the scent without thinking twice. Her senses are very heightened at this moment with no disturbances. Nothing is going to come between her and finding her mate.
Is he hear, in the woods? What would he be doing here? Did he come after me to find out where I live? I swoon mentally at the romantic gesture.
The scent leads me deeper into the woods towards the territory of the Silverclaw pack. It is not allowed for pack members to roam on another Pack's territory without permission. It would be intruding and it is highly punishable.
I stop by the stream boundary and rethink about crossing it and following the scent. my father would be very furious if I got myself into trouble and caused the pack problems.
The scent gets very strong and irresistible. Where are you? I look around the stream. The water is not that deep I can walk through it and cross the stream. Just as I am about to dip my front leg in the water,
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," a familiar voice sounds from behind me. I immediately turn and find the heart's most wanted standing there, leaning against a tree. I rejoice within and wonder if he can recognize me. I am in my wolf form. He doesn't even know what my wolf looks like, does he?
He tilts his head to one side and looks at me with a nonchalant look. I start debating in my mind if I should transform in front of him and show him that it's me. Damn! I left my clothes behind.
So what if he sees you naked? He is your mate anyway, my wolf tells me but I ignore her.
I don't know if he noticed my state, because he removes his long coat and gives it to me.
"You can put this on," he says with a secret smile playing on his face.
I stand behind a tree and transform quickly. I pull on the coat. Luckily, it corners everything up to my knees though there is a good amount of cleavage showing.
After making sure I am good to show, I dash into his embrace and wrap my hands tightly around his neck. He doesn't stop me, though I caught him off guard. He also wraps his hands around my waist and pulls me closer to him.
Damien I had to come after her. I just couldn't help it. I close my eyes and relish the feeling of having her in my embrace. It is just heavenly. I can't explain exactly what I feel like, especially knowing that she has nothing on her body under that coat. "Why are you here?" she asks me. "I believe it is the same reason why you are here," I reply with a smile and she blushes. She looks so gorgeous under the moonlight. "How did you find me?" she asks. "I am a vampire," I reply with a shrug and she chuckles lightly. Oh, that is such a beautiful sound. "It is very late. You should be asleep," I tell her while tracing my fingers through her hair, trailing them down her cheeks. "I don't feel like it," she answers. Her big brown eyes bore through mine as if she is seeing everything beyond my face. She raises her hand and places it on my cheek. It is so soft, and warm. It makes my long-dead skin come to life. "And you, why aren't you asleep?" she inquires me. "I am a Vampire," I
Clara This is what I thought of vampires before I entered this house: cold, loners, ruthless, and many other terrible things but whoa! These guys are sweeter than my own family back in the pack. There is this hunk who is drunk but he is so funny. When I entered this house, I didn't know what to expect. In the pack house back home, there are always many people walking around in and out. There are restricted areas though. This family seems very close, closer than our pack. I can't believe I am still awake at this hour. I wonder what time it is. I look around the walls hoping for a wall clock to be hanging there, but I don't find any. I need to find the guy, I don't even know his name yet! I have been offered some liquor but I turned down the offer. I want to be sober on my first stay here. I have to be careful especially since I am only wearing this coat with nothing inside. I get up from the couch that I have been sitting on and walk around the house to look for my mate. I wonder
Damien Good thing Amber hadn't gone too far in her act and Clara doesn't look as angry as I expected she would be. I hope Amber is now able to understand what I have been able to explain to her all this time. I don't want her to be an obstacle between Clara and me. "You must be tired. Let's go inside and I will get you somewhere to sleep," I tell her but she doesn't reply. She must be exhausted. I carry her off the ground into my arms. She just leans in closer to my chest and closes her eyes. I don't think twice before I enter the house and take her directly to my bedroom. I know there are many spare bedrooms in the house, but I prefer that she is here. I hope she doesn't mind resting in my room. I place her gently on the bed and she immediately opens her eyes. She gives me a crooked smile which makes her so adorable and kissable. Gosh, Give the girl a break! You'll scare her away, my subconscious warns me. "This is your bedroom, right?" she asks me with a hint of amusement clea
Clara I wake up with a lazy yawn and close my eyes again for a moment. Wait a minute... I try to remember where I am and what exactly I am doing here. A lot of things happened last night. Oh, I found my mate. A smile spreads across my face knowing that I finally found him and I slept in his bed, though nothing serious happened between us. I feel very satisfied within me. I spread my arms across the bed looking for him. I open my eyes and realize that he is not in bed. He must have gotten up already. Did he even sleep? He must have fled after I fell asleep. Through the big glass window, bright light gushes into the room. I can tell that it is very late for someone to get out of bed at this time. I sit up and start wondering where I should begin. This is the first time I have slept away from home without someone I know having escorted me. I am a grown woman now. I should be able to take care of myself. Where should I begin? I don't even have my clothes! I left my clothes back hom
Damien I have had Victoria help me prepare some breakfast for Clara because I sincerely have no idea where to begin from. I lay it out on the small table in the kitchen and wait for her to come down the stairs. She should be done washing up by now. Could she have gotten lost on her way downstairs? I know there are many rooms and corridors on the way from my room but she should be able to find her way downstairs. I wonder if I should go and get her. "Do you think she will be able to find her way down here?" Victoria asks me while clearing the kitchen counter. "I hope so," I reply and she rolls her eyes. "Maybe you should go and check on her," she suggests. "I was thinking the same thing, but let her be. There is no better way of getting used to a place other than getting lost," I say. "You are such a cold-ass lover. I pity her," she says with a smirk. "She hasn't complained yet. I think I am doing a good job so far," I tell her and she laughs. "You should know that she has be
Clara After the weird-looking vampires leave, I am left confused, more than I have ever been. What did my father ever do to Damien and his family to end up being their greatest enemy? Why does my father hate vampires so much? What on earth happened between these two kinds of beings? Damien turns and walks back towards the house without saying anything. Is he mad at me or mad at the vampires that just left? Does he dislike me since he has found out that I am his enemy's daughter? I look down at the ground and wonder what I should do now. It must be a really big problem in this place. The slim vampire with a hawkish nose was right. If he finds out that I am living with his enemy then nothing will be able to calm his rage, especially if he finds out that he is my mate. Damien just left. Everything was going great. I just got him, and now I can feel like he is so far away. I feel so small. I just feel like laying down on the ground and curling up into a ball so that I can be as small
Damien After spending some good time thinking about lots of things, I decided to go back to the house. Fabian has been the biggest enemy in my entire life but I have managed to move in. I have been living peacefully for all these years. He wouldn't dare show up here and cause a scene. I find Victoria and Raul in the living room. I can't spot Clara. "Where is Clara?" I ask them. "She has gone upstairs, I think," Victoria replies. "Okay," I say and climb up the stairs. I need to see her right now and talk to her. I hope those rascals didn't scare her away. I need to see her and assure them that everything is going to be fine. I need to hold her and tell her that nothing is going to come between us as long as we are determined to stand strong for each other. I open the door of the bedroom and enter. The room feels so empty. There is something on the bed. I dash to the bed and find the dress she was putting on folded neatly. I have a bad feeling about this. "Clara!" I call out whi
Clara After running out of tears, I finally decide to get out of my room. I have a slight headache because of all that crying. I head downstairs to the kitchen to get some water. The kitchen is very big. Most of the time the housekeepers keep food in there Incase someone wants to have food at any time. The last food I ate was the late breakfast that I had at Damien's house. There he goes again. I thought I had got him out of my head for a moment, but I think I have been lying to myself the whole time. The mate bond is still new. It hasn't grown that strong. The mate bond starts to get stronger when you are with your mate most of the time and his or her feelings reflect yours. Now that we are away from each other, I don't know if it is going to get weaker a disappear at some point or if it is going to get stronger until we can't stay away from each. I get some leftover food and heat it in the microwave. I put some on a plate and sit on a stool. Just as I start to dig in someone com
