Damien
I thought I was running wild when something started smelling wonderful in this damn alley, but when I found this girl, I don't know what to think anymore. Now she has turned her back to me and she is walking away!
What have I said? She looked very hurt before she walked away.
"Wait!" I call out and she stops but does not look back. I don't know why but I feel like I can't just let her walk away like that. I dash towards her and stop behind her. She called me her mate.
I know werewolves get mates at a certain point of their lives whom they are supposed to live with for the rest of their lives, but I am not a werewolf. A few werewolves get human mates, but I am a vampire. I have never heard of a werewolf being mated to a vampire.
"I am sorry if I said something wrong," I tell her while running my hands through my hair.
"No, it's okay. I mistook you for someone you aren't," she replies without turning to look at me. Her words are calm yet heavy with emotion. Why do they make my heart ache so much when she says I am not what she thought I was?
"Look at me," I ask her. She first hesitates to respond but later turns and looks me in the eyes. I can now see the beautiful delicate outline of her face. She has brown eyes and jet-black silky hair which Cascades down her shoulders in waves.
"I am a vampire. I mean werewolves can't get vampire mates," I tell her. She doesn't seem affected by my identity.
"Who said that?" she asks me with a slight shrug of her shoulder.
"So you still want me as your mate even after knowing that I am a vampire?" I ask her with disbelief unfiltered in my voice.
"Heaven plans that I should have a vampire mate. I can't go against it," she replies.
"You can't just accept that like you don't have a choice," I tell her.
"Don't you want me as your mate?" she asks me with a small dying voice. The silence that follows is very deafening.
"I never said anything about not wanting you," I say.
"Gosh! I have been waiting for my partner for decades now!" And I can't believe I finally found you. I don't add the last one but her eyes grow wider when she hears that.
I reach nearer to her and run my hand down her cheek. Her skin is so soft, so warm. She flinches a little at my touch but then relaxes.
"Why are you here on your own?" I ask her in a soft calm tone. She raises the bag in her hands a little as if it is very obvious.
"Are those groceries? You should go home and start cooking," I tell her, and she gives me a small smile.
"Don't you want to go home?" I ask her with a smirk. She shakes her head and then closes her eyes. She leans her face into my hand, submitting to my touch.
Why doesn't she want to go home? Is she tortured there? My muscles tense at the thought of someone mistreating her in any way.
I try getting the bag from her but she holds it tighter so that I am unable to get it.
"Come on. I will take you home," I say but she shakes her head, no.
"Clara! Clara!" someone calls from the street and Clara immediately opens her eyes.
"Are you with someone?" I ask her.
"No," she replies while fidgeting to get away from me and create as much distance from me as she can.
"I think I should go now," she says.
"What? Wait!" I call out. She is leaving? Just like that?
She gives me a bright smile and turns to walk toward the street. I watch as her figure disappears and she is gone!
Damn it! That was very brief. I have every thought of following her and knowing who she has gone with or finding out where she lives but I have to refrain myself.
Whoa! I haven't felt this energy in years!
I get on my heels and walk back home. The house we live in is a bit isolated from the town. That is for the good of our Clan's privacy. Vampires, unlike werewolves, prefer to live in quiet isolated places where there is little interference from the town.
Werewolves can live with and interact with people at any time of the day, unlike us. Our movements are limited during the day, so we move a lot at night.
Everyone in the house has gone out, except for Amber, Victoria, and Luther. I think the rest have gone out to feed.
"Oh, you're back," Amber says while getting up from the couch as if she has been waiting for me all this time that I have been gone.
Victoria and Luther are partners. They have been together for a very long time, probably for as long as I can remember. Amber, however, is single. She has been trying to convince me that we could be life partners but I consider her my little sister. I can't imagine myself in a sexual or romantic relationship with her.
"The house is pretty quiet. Where is everybody?" I choose to ask the most obvious question and walk past Amber who frowns in disappointment.
"Raul told me that there is a new bar that opened today. They work all night," Luther replies with an amused smirk.
"Raul, that drunkard! Always looking for an opportunity to get himself out of his mind!" I say and take a seat beside Luther. He leans closer to me and dramatically sniffs my coat.
"And where have you been?" he asks me with a huge
grin covering his face.
"In town," I reply in an emotionless voice, trying to sweep him off the matter, but he doesn't back off.
"In town, doing what?" he asks me while raising his eyebrows to persuade me. "With who?" he continues.
Damn! He is not going to give this up. I am very well aware that Clara's scent is still all over me. Maybe I should tell him. There is no need to hide it from him. He will find out the truth anyway. I take a deep breath before spilling the beans.
"I think I found my life partner," I finally tell her. He looks shocked for a moment and his eyes grow unbelievably wide. His eyes immediately land on Amber who is standing in front of me with a similar expression. What! Why do they look extremely surprised? They all knew I had to find my partner someday anyway.
"What's with the face?" I ask them.
"Are you sure she is the one?" Luther asks me.
"I am very sure. I am her mate."
"Mate? Is she a werewolf?"
"Yes, she is a werewolf," I reply.
Luther and Amber's exchange looks before he continues his interrogation.
"Where is she? Did you bring her with you?" he asks while looking at the entrance of the house.
"No, of course not. She had to go home. She probably belongs to a pack or something," I reply. I wish I had brought her home before whoever interrupted our moment came in.
"I am so happy for you, man! Finally, you have someone," Luther says with a beaming grin while patting my shoulder. Amber angrily rolls her eyes. She is already jealous of my partner even before she met her.
Clara Emily still can't get over the fact that I just met my mate. The look that she is giving me right now is showing me that she is still in shock. "And you let him go just like that?" she asks me with utter disbelief in her voice. "Come on. I just met him," I reply, but in reality, I wish I had followed him to wherever he was going. "Why is that an excuse? He is your mate so it doesn't matter if you met right now or years ago," she says. "If he is my mate, then we will have to meet again, eventually," I tell her with a hopeful smile. I hope the moment comes soon. I can still feel his cold but smooth hand caressing my cheek. I want to feel that again. I haven't told Emily that he is a vampire, or else she will freak out. We all know how father hates vampires. Vampires and werewolves have never been on good terms. The werewolves haunted the vampires and vice versa. Since they are all immortal, the conflicts went on forever. I know very well how much father has always wished t
Damien I had to come after her. I just couldn't help it. I close my eyes and relish the feeling of having her in my embrace. It is just heavenly. I can't explain exactly what I feel like, especially knowing that she has nothing on her body under that coat. "Why are you here?" she asks me. "I believe it is the same reason why you are here," I reply with a smile and she blushes. She looks so gorgeous under the moonlight. "How did you find me?" she asks. "I am a vampire," I reply with a shrug and she chuckles lightly. Oh, that is such a beautiful sound. "It is very late. You should be asleep," I tell her while tracing my fingers through her hair, trailing them down her cheeks. "I don't feel like it," she answers. Her big brown eyes bore through mine as if she is seeing everything beyond my face. She raises her hand and places it on my cheek. It is so soft, and warm. It makes my long-dead skin come to life. "And you, why aren't you asleep?" she inquires me. "I am a Vampire," I
Clara This is what I thought of vampires before I entered this house: cold, loners, ruthless, and many other terrible things but whoa! These guys are sweeter than my own family back in the pack. There is this hunk who is drunk but he is so funny. When I entered this house, I didn't know what to expect. In the pack house back home, there are always many people walking around in and out. There are restricted areas though. This family seems very close, closer than our pack. I can't believe I am still awake at this hour. I wonder what time it is. I look around the walls hoping for a wall clock to be hanging there, but I don't find any. I need to find the guy, I don't even know his name yet! I have been offered some liquor but I turned down the offer. I want to be sober on my first stay here. I have to be careful especially since I am only wearing this coat with nothing inside. I get up from the couch that I have been sitting on and walk around the house to look for my mate. I wonder
Damien Good thing Amber hadn't gone too far in her act and Clara doesn't look as angry as I expected she would be. I hope Amber is now able to understand what I have been able to explain to her all this time. I don't want her to be an obstacle between Clara and me. "You must be tired. Let's go inside and I will get you somewhere to sleep," I tell her but she doesn't reply. She must be exhausted. I carry her off the ground into my arms. She just leans in closer to my chest and closes her eyes. I don't think twice before I enter the house and take her directly to my bedroom. I know there are many spare bedrooms in the house, but I prefer that she is here. I hope she doesn't mind resting in my room. I place her gently on the bed and she immediately opens her eyes. She gives me a crooked smile which makes her so adorable and kissable. Gosh, Give the girl a break! You'll scare her away, my subconscious warns me. "This is your bedroom, right?" she asks me with a hint of amusement clea
Clara I wake up with a lazy yawn and close my eyes again for a moment. Wait a minute... I try to remember where I am and what exactly I am doing here. A lot of things happened last night. Oh, I found my mate. A smile spreads across my face knowing that I finally found him and I slept in his bed, though nothing serious happened between us. I feel very satisfied within me. I spread my arms across the bed looking for him. I open my eyes and realize that he is not in bed. He must have gotten up already. Did he even sleep? He must have fled after I fell asleep. Through the big glass window, bright light gushes into the room. I can tell that it is very late for someone to get out of bed at this time. I sit up and start wondering where I should begin. This is the first time I have slept away from home without someone I know having escorted me. I am a grown woman now. I should be able to take care of myself. Where should I begin? I don't even have my clothes! I left my clothes back hom
Damien I have had Victoria help me prepare some breakfast for Clara because I sincerely have no idea where to begin from. I lay it out on the small table in the kitchen and wait for her to come down the stairs. She should be done washing up by now. Could she have gotten lost on her way downstairs? I know there are many rooms and corridors on the way from my room but she should be able to find her way downstairs. I wonder if I should go and get her. "Do you think she will be able to find her way down here?" Victoria asks me while clearing the kitchen counter. "I hope so," I reply and she rolls her eyes. "Maybe you should go and check on her," she suggests. "I was thinking the same thing, but let her be. There is no better way of getting used to a place other than getting lost," I say. "You are such a cold-ass lover. I pity her," she says with a smirk. "She hasn't complained yet. I think I am doing a good job so far," I tell her and she laughs. "You should know that she has be
Clara After the weird-looking vampires leave, I am left confused, more than I have ever been. What did my father ever do to Damien and his family to end up being their greatest enemy? Why does my father hate vampires so much? What on earth happened between these two kinds of beings? Damien turns and walks back towards the house without saying anything. Is he mad at me or mad at the vampires that just left? Does he dislike me since he has found out that I am his enemy's daughter? I look down at the ground and wonder what I should do now. It must be a really big problem in this place. The slim vampire with a hawkish nose was right. If he finds out that I am living with his enemy then nothing will be able to calm his rage, especially if he finds out that he is my mate. Damien just left. Everything was going great. I just got him, and now I can feel like he is so far away. I feel so small. I just feel like laying down on the ground and curling up into a ball so that I can be as small
Damien After spending some good time thinking about lots of things, I decided to go back to the house. Fabian has been the biggest enemy in my entire life but I have managed to move in. I have been living peacefully for all these years. He wouldn't dare show up here and cause a scene. I find Victoria and Raul in the living room. I can't spot Clara. "Where is Clara?" I ask them. "She has gone upstairs, I think," Victoria replies. "Okay," I say and climb up the stairs. I need to see her right now and talk to her. I hope those rascals didn't scare her away. I need to see her and assure them that everything is going to be fine. I need to hold her and tell her that nothing is going to come between us as long as we are determined to stand strong for each other. I open the door of the bedroom and enter. The room feels so empty. There is something on the bed. I dash to the bed and find the dress she was putting on folded neatly. I have a bad feeling about this. "Clara!" I call out whi
