Prologue

"...Betty!" called out a man while he fumbled in his seat.

He was tied up with duct tape all round his torso to a seat, down to his feet save for his mouth.

"Betty!" he called out again, turning to the person seated next to him.

The last time he had seen her, she was hosting a beach party in Sydney, her white face now red and unresponsive as she sat there, tied up like him.

It had happened so fast, he hadn't gotten the chance to do anything.

The couple were in a dark room which could have been darker had it not still been daylight outside as the man in the chair figured from looking across a window.

He spotted the large white Opera House out through the window when suddenly, a door burst open followed by what appeared to be white flashes of light. Lightning.

The man managed to smile after realising what it was or who it was.

In an instant, his bounds were undone, all the while white lightning whooshing all around him.

The source of the lightning turned out to be a person. A man dressed in what seemed to be some sort of white clothing that matched with the lightning that arced from his body and his face was behind a mask, revealing only his eyes. A speedster.

Once the man was free, the speedster turned to the woman and was just about to unbound her when he was suddenly struck by an unseen force from behind.

The man watched to his horror as the speedster doubled over to the ground and his body began to vaporise, literally, before his eyes.

From one dark corner of the room, a tall figure stepped out and the man could make out that it was feminine, even though its face was concealed in some kind of dark mask and not even the eyes could be seen.

The stranger walked up towards the 'evaporating' speedster who was groaning uncontrollably the entire time as his body wasted away.

She stopped next to him, her heeled shoes making her tower above him before kneeling and stretching out a hand towards his head.

She yanked out his cowl, revealling a terrified face that crumbled into nothing and then stood and turned to leave, the cowl still in her grasp.

"For Anna ..." she whispered to herself and was gone, leaving the man and woman she had captured as bait in the room to leave whenever they pleased...
