Listening to Giovanna tell me about the threats she was facing because of me, my heart squeezed with concern and anger. How could anyone be so cruel as to threaten such a special person as her? I wanted to protect her in every possible way, but I knew I couldn't do it alone.

"I'm sorry, Giovanna," I said tenderly, holding your hands in mine. "No one should go through this, especially because of me."
