67. LIE TOGETHER

"Where do we tell them that we went then?"

I exhaled sharply and allowed Kael's warmth to sip into my body before letting out a shudder.

"That you followed me out because I asked you to." I shrugged and leaned into him. I was well aware of his hands beside my waist but I tried to ignore them.

"And?" Kael asked in a husky voice.

My wolf danced within me. I was coming up blank. "I can't think of anything. It'll come when we see them. Who knows, they might be too busy to ask," I muttered.

I felt Kael inhale deeply before I heard him sigh heavily. The gates came into view. The guards from earlier had moved from the main doors to the gate. They let us through without any difficulty. It was when we got into the main court that the real difficulty began.

Arden was waiting on the porch while sipping wine from a small glass cup. He rose to his feet immediately after he saw us and began to descend the three steps that led up to the porch.
