Chapter 1

Amelia’s POV

“I, Alpha Kade of the Bloodmoon Pack, reject you, Amelia White, as my mate, and Luna of the Bloodmoon Pack!”

My knees gave way as I fell to the ground; pain as hot as lava ran through my body, leaving me breathless for a few seconds.

“I can’t accept a weak, lowly Omega as my mate!” His voice roared as my body shook in pain. I looked up slowly at Alpha Kade’s eyes; his eyes, as green as the forest, held no emotion in them; it made me feel worthless.

My heart pounded against my chest violently; it felt like a confident elephant was lying on me. The pain of the rejection feels like boiling hot pins were being pressed slowly into every cell and muscle in my body. My body felt like it was slowly dying.

“What…? I finally struggled to utter, my eyes welling with tears, trying to fight their way down. I was trembling with fear and confusion.

“Amelia White! You heard me clearly, and I do not need to say it a million times before you get it into your skull that you cannot be my Mate or Luna. You are a lowly omega, the lowest of all.” He declared.

The crowd looked on at us, and as my eyes drifted to them, I was consumed with shame. I was getting humiliated by my mate in front of everyone.

Who would have imagined that Alpha Kade, of whom everyone talked so mighty and sweetly, would turn out to be as cruel as this? His words felt like a lash to my oversensitive skin.

I gritted my teeth as I tried to ignore the cruel chuckles coming from the crowd. My eyes were burning with tears as I felt an overwhelming mix of pain, anger, and loneliness. An intense sense of abandonment filled me again.

Six years had passed since my mother left me alone in the Bloodmoon Pack. Every year I prayed to the moon goddess for her return. I am eighteen now and much wiser to understand she wasn’t coming back for me. I had been abandoned by her. Being a weak Omega in the Bloodmoon Pack means just two things: being a slave to the pack and a mere breeder. Growing up had been tough and hard, as I was constantly bullied by all, not until Alpha Rozan rescued me once from my bullies and took me in as his child. His daughter, Isabelle, however, made sure I was living in hell. She is my biggest bully in the Bloodmoon pack.

Alpha Rozan, however, gave me hope; he made me believe I wasn’t just a weak Omega for the mere purpose of breeding. I had dreamed of meeting my mate on my eighteenth birthday, and we would live a happy life.

But who would have thought I would be mated to Alpha Kade? He had shattered my whole world with his heart-wrenching rejection.

The pain I feel now is second to none; my entire body was on fire. What was the purpose of my whole existence—to be a slave and a breeder? Who would accept me if my supposed mate had rejected me?

Thousands of questions filled my mind as more tears rolled down my face.

Oh, my poor self! Abandoned by her mother and rejected by her mate. Why? Why me? My hands clutched my chest as I tried so hard to breathe. My eyes landed back on Alpha Kade; his eyes were fixed on me. An evil grin was planted on his face; he looked like he was enjoying all this. I enjoyed seeing me wallow in pain after his rejection.

I felt my wolf growl; her whimpers filled my mind. I had initially planned to remain quiet and endure whatever humiliation and cruel remarks they threw at me. But my wolf wouldn’t stay silent; she is the complete opposite of me. When I want to run, she wants to sit; when I want to stay silent, she wants to talk.

She forced my legs up from the ground, ignoring the jelly-like feeling in my limbs. I am still half-crunching in pain. She forced me forward, ignoring my initial intentions.

Why? I asked him. His eyes widened at how harsh my tone was. But I didn’t care; Lia doesn’t listen to me anyway.

“What did you say? He asked me.

“Why did you reject me? What have I done to you? The laughter ceases to be heard in the crowd, and they soon start to murmur.

“You can never be my mate! You’re nothing but a weak omega—weak, powerless, and a complete fool. He approached me, closing the distance between us. I felt little and powerless at how tall he was.

I struggled to keep my feet on the floor, and as an electric feeling ran through them, a mixture of fear and curiosity took over.

Alpha Kade crouched down, his hands gently gripping my jawline as he lifted my face to meet his. His green eyes were piercing into mine. My wolf felt powerless, and she hid back, leaving me by myself after her actions.

A wicked grin makes his way across his lips as I wonder what he will do to me next.

“You really think you could be my mate? Your mother abandoned you, and your father is a rogue wolf. He abandoned you and your mother. You are nothing but a cursed Omega.” His voice was cruel and mixed with a taunting tone.

I was too stunned to speak; my mind was clouded with confusion. Everyone had told me they didn’t know who my father was; how did he know?

I… I don’t understand. What do you mean by saying my father is a rogue wolf? I thought no one knew who he was. My words were breaking as they tumbled out of my lips, and my hands were trembling as tears streamed down my face.

“Forget it! I don’t have to answer you. He scoffed. Was he lying to me to taunt me? He draws closer to my face, his hot breath burning my skin. He chuckled softly before speaking again.

“Well, I have found my mate already! You are nothing but a mistake; the moon goddess must have made a mistake.” His words hit me like a blow as I tried to make sense of what he had just said.

“What? What do you mean.. But before I could finish my sentence, he cut me off.

“Isabelle! He called out. And my eyes widened. Could the mate he has chosen be the person I know?

“Yes Alpha.” Her voice cut through the air, and my body shook in fear. It was a familiar voice that I knew so well.

My eyes landed on her as she confidently approached him, her arms wrapping him possessively, and she then planted a kiss on his face. Confusion and anger filled me as I couldn’t seem to comprehend what I was seeing.

My biggest bully, Isabelle, the daughter of Alpha Rowan, who had taken me in as his daughter, is Alpha Kade Chosen Mate. My heart raced in my chest; it felt like it stopped as I felt breathless. My legs gave way as I fell to the ground again.

They held each other's hands in a tight grip, a grip that mocked me relentlessly. Isabelle looked at me, her grin taunting me.

“I have made my choice. Isabelle will be by Mate and the future Luna of the Bloodmoon Pack! She will rule beside me.” A smile made its way across his face.

What have I done to deserve this? Of all the ladies in the Bloodmoon pack, why did my mate reject me for being my bully?

My fist tightened in a clench, and the way they looked at me made it apparent that they took pleasure in seeing me suffer, seeing me go through pains, and I was giving them that privilege.

“You are pathetic! I finally let out as I stood up from the floor. I wasn’t going to keep fooling myself in front of them and everyone.

“What?” She hisses. He glared at me, his eyes cold with no emotion in them. I wonder why he hates me so much. The thoughts shattered me, but I was determined not to show them.

“I said you’re pathetic, Isabelle! My voice was filled with strength and boldness.

“You are the pathetic one! I mean, after your mother abandoned you, my father took you in; he clothed and fed you. And you dare call me pathetic?” Her words were sharp, and they sliced at my heart. I flinched at the coldness of her voice as her face scrunched in anger. I didn’t respond to her; instead, I turned my gaze back to my supposed mate. He had a stupid smirk on his face.

A smile made its way to my face as I started to say,

“I, Amelia White! Reject you, Kade Donovan, as my.. That was the last word I uttered before everything went blank and my body hit the ground.
