By the end of the month, the mating urge has slowed down. It was helped a lot by the fact that most of the daily tasks could be delegated to Kristoff and Patrice. My parents and Karamea’s parents helped as well, only coming to us for a few hours per day. By Saturday, we are even able to spend several hours apart without the feeling that part of our soul is missing.
Karamea’s parents have taken Tesoro under their wing and are showing him the duties of a beta. My mother has taken it upon herself to work with mi reina, showing her the duties of a luna. This was complicated by the fact that Declan and Lucille were also spending time with Karamea, trying to teach her about being an oracle.
I am standing in a large clearing somewhat away from all of the tents, houses, and wolves that have overtaken the Diana Pack, aiding in the training of the warriors. Somehow, the Deltas and Gammas of all of the packs have gotten along extremely well. We have split up all of the warriors based on skill and training level and we rotate them through the different instructors.I work with my mates to help with hand to hand combat, showing the packs how to work in units of three. We are watching our warriors spar with each other, giving pointers or joining in as needed. I’ve just stepped back from working with a group of three and am surveying the field. To one side, I see Xander showing a group of warriors a more efficient way to switch out the leader of the group if they are getting tired. His shirt is off, his muscles glistenin
Zak quickly informed all of the alphas and they all met in the dining hall of the Diana Pack. Even Diego came, as this involved a battle on two fronts. The Alphas and Gammas discussed strategy while the Betas and Deltas were out among the warriors splitting up who was to go where, who was to stay and the logistics of getting so many wolves where they needed to go. Within an hour, we have two groups loaded into vehicles and heading to the Blood Moon and Shadow packs. Doctors, nurses, and volunteers are also loading up supplies and medications to follow two hours behind us. Zak and Gael were attempting to reach both alphas by phone to warn them and get them to evacuate, but their phones went unanswered. That wasn’t a good sign. Devin, Arya, and I were in charge of the group heading to the Shadow Pack. Our warriors consisted o
I see Isaac scurrying around the side of the packhouse, looking behind him to make sure he isn’t being followed. I run to him, linking Xander at the same time. Got him, Liefie. “Isaac,” I call to him, only loud enough for him to hear me. I can hear growls and a scream come from the other side of the packhouse, but I don’t want to draw their attention. His head whips to face me and a grin spreads across his face as he sees that it’s me. “Arya! Thank the Goddess!” He runs towards me and pulls me into a hug. This is the most affection that Isaac has ever shown me, but I gratefully return the hug. When I called him my brother at our last parting, I meant it. He was like th
“Arya! Arya! FUCK!” I’m about to throw my phone when I get a ping telling me I have a text. It’s the directions from Isaac. I quickly memorize them and link them to the entire pack. I show the phone to Hakeem and Bethany and they link the details to their packs as well. I shift and start running. Shouldn’t we come up with a plan? Jeremy links me. Mathias’s shitheads are already there. Our mate, our warriors, and 75 innocent she-wolves are in danger. If you want to stay behind and formulate a plan, be my guest. My voice is a savage growl in my head as I run through the woods towards my mate. These men are fucking animals. Obviously better trai
I hear a howl resound through the clearing and turn quickly to see allied wolves break through the trees. I’m not sure who they are, just that they aren’t a part of my pack. “Devin! Xander!” Arya calls to them, before turning and punching an enemy wolf so hard that his neck snaps back. He’s instantly unconscious. She quickly steps over his body and breaks his neck before falling back into line beside me. So far, we’ve managed not to let anyone past us to get to the she-wolves. We’re not foolish enough to believe that these males want them, but we know that they will be used against us. And there’s no way that we can allow them to be hurt more than they already are. The enemy keeps coming, but with reinforcements, the wolves that get to the inner circle where w
I feel my rage boiling as I stand watching our wolves unload the dead wolves from the APCs and putting them on the funeral pyres. I’m standing on the back veranda, looking down the hill into the empty field that will be used tonight for the funeral services. Two hundred and fifty dead wolves. Two hundred and fifty mates feeling the link sever forever, families torn apart, by what? One asshole’s bigotry? Because one guy didn’t agree with someone else’s life choices, all these wolves died. Granted other packs joined him, but would they have started a war if he hadn’t? Or would they have just grumbled about it? Would these wolves still be alive if Mathias had never come to my territory? If I hadn’t insisted that we wouldn’t hide our mates? “Lollipop, what’s going on in that pretty little head of yours?” I fee
“Are you sure about this?” I ask Isaac. Devin, Xander, and I had accompanied the groups that had gone to the Shadow Pack to help move the pack and the injured wolves. We brought Isaac with us to send him back to the Blue Crescent Pack. After we beat him. This morning, when we left Diana territory to come to the Shadow Pack, we chained him at wrists and ankles with silver to cause the burning that would be expected on a prisoner. Every jolt, every turn, every change in speed caused the cuffs to shift. Isaac tried to hide it, but there is no wolf that can remain truly impassive to the effects of silver. Three fucking hours of that torture and he never once complained, just did it for the cause.Yesterday, it was decided that Isaac would continue his undercover work in the Blue Crescent Pack. He would act as if
I’m standing in front of my new pack, Lily and Diego on either side of me. The pack oracle, Jenny, along with Gamma Rue, and Delta Sam were standing with us. Beta Alessandra was seated in a chair on the stage with us, having just returned to the pack after her injuries. Next to her was her brother Carlos. It was time for Lily and my ascension to luna. Though it was unheard of for a pack to have two lunas, at least in recent history, Diego wouldn’t hear of one of us just being an alpha mate. “This pack is both of yours, equally. You are both my mates, equally. So the title is both of yours. Equally.” That announcement from him led to a fun time in bed, with special attention paid to our wonderful alpha. At the same time, Sandra was going to transfer her title to her younger brother, since she wo
