"Can someone tell me what's going on?" My Dad asked as soon as Gabriella and I walked out of my room.

My eyes met Rowan's and I could see the anger and tension in them. Of course, it was going to be no less than a war zone right now. But honestly, he did not have anything to worry about as of now. I was not going to attack him like that. I was not going to stoop to his level and involve our families in our fight.

"It's nothing, Dad. Just girl stuff." I shrugged. Gabriella nodded though I did not miss the death stare she gave Rowan.

Rowan really was a bad guy, wasn't he? No matter how much I used to internally defend him, right now, I could not help but just feel stupid. Why was I so aggressively defending someone who never deserved it? Well, then again, he never asked to be defended. It was me all along.

"Can we just forget the tension and get to dinner?" Gabriella asked. "I have stuff to do in the morning."

I looked over at her, feeling proud.
