SAMANTHA'S POV

I curled my lips in horror at what Valerie just did, she had just ignited a ticking bomb and it was going to explode, on her … on me. I looked back up at Lucas face etched with anger. The look on the faces of the staff present meant only one thing–and I wasn't ready for it. I'm sure the staff feared that Lucas would do something drastic but I feared even more that he wouldn't, because that only meant something– he was going to come back harder and at me.

Even though I always thought his actions were inconsequential to me, I can't seem to get a grip of myself. Cold shivers ran through my spine and my fingers became chilly. I didn't know what I was feeling but I inhaled deeply frequently, reminding myself that I wasn't about to have a panic attack.
