Chapter 18: Scotch

It had been over an hour since I left the hospital. My confrontation with Hunter made me feel a little off-kilter and I tried my best to prevent the feeling eroding my peace of mind.

I could have gone home straight but I didn't as I knew it would be me and Louise for company. I loved that cat, but I didn't need his meows demanding I do what he wanted. If he wasn't careful I wouldn't think twice about giving him up or taking him to the nearest shelter.

The fact that I was thinking that way, only proved how angry and frustrated I was.

What was there in telling me about his parents? I wondered. Okay, so maybe-just maybe, I hadn't been forthcoming with truths about my family situation, as I avoided mentioning them or making reference to them, at least I didn't make him feel not trusted, or whatever he felt that made him unable to speak to me about his folks.
