I returned home, feeling as if I had lost my soul along the way. However, when I used the spare key hidden beneath the doormat to unlock the door, I was left utterly stunned. There, seated calmly on the couch, was Linda. I had no idea how she had managed to enter.

With a sudden smile, Linda remarked, "Kathryn, you haven't changed a bit, still keeping your keys under the doormat."

It was a habit I had shared with her back when we used to share a bed. I asked her coldly, "What brings you here?"

She stood up, walked towards me, and suddenly knelt in front of me, pleading, "Kathryn, I've come to ask for your help."

She wanted me to alter my testimony, to claim that Lucy had fainted and hit her head on a stone by herself. I shouted firmly, "Why should I?"

She replied, "Lucy deserved to die. Even if her brains splattered, it's her own fault. This testimony will benefit both of us."

I responded with a cold tone, "So, you can avoid being arrested, isn’t it?"
