Chapter 23 Admitting the reason

Selene couldn’t stop her sobbing, no matter how she tried. Because of what happened, all the terrible memories she had been keeping inside burst forth, flashing before her eyes.

All those walls she’d put around her heart to protect herself turned into dust, crumbling into nothingness in an instant.

Dark silhouettes of people surrounding her, all of them with those frowning angry faces, shouting, screaming, and throwing insults at her.

‘Get away from us!’

‘You’re nothing but bad luck.’

‘Don’t ever show your face here again!’

‘Are you crazy?’

These were but a few of those words repeatedly ringing inside her head, things she had thought she had forgotten, buried deep within the confines of her subconscious.

But it brought all of those repressed memories, along with the sudden and confusing attack from Duncan.
