Chapter 14: Why the Alpha's Heart Raced?

“Melonie!” I heard Lovely call from behind.

Swiftly, I wiped my tears, not wanting her to see me cry, but not in time. She came before me, and I turned around, drying the remaining tears with my uniform sleeve.

Believing I was crying about what had happened in the living room, Lovely said, “Don’t cry, Melonie.”

"Cavia, send me to tell you that the alpha has rehired you.You've got your job back.”

I pretended that this was the cause of my tears and that the Alpha didn't force me to work here. I turned around, nodding.

"Come, let’s go; our supper is ready.” Lovely took my hand and led me out of the garden.

We went to the employee lounge room.

When we got there, the sight of the table amazed me; it had many meals that were fit for its owner. At my uncle's home, he forbade the workers from consuming any of the meals prepared for him and his family. I was fortunate enough to scrape the bottom of the pots to get a small portion of his meal.
