Wonderings: Immediate Family

“Are you her immediate family?” The doctor asked. Before I could answer, Aira answered and told the doctor that we were Amelia’s family. The doctor nodded and told us about her condition. 

“She’s severely malnourished. If you would have taken her here any later, it would have been too late. She fainted due to malnourishment and fatigue. It’s not good for an expecting mother to be under constant stress like this. We’ll do our best to give her what she needs. In the meantime, I highly suggest for her to stay in the hospital so we’ll be able to do all the tests to see if anything else is wrong with her.” The doctor said. I nodded and told him that we’ll follow his advice. 

While waiting for Amelia to be transferred to a room, Aira and I sat down on the available chairs in the waiting room. Aira rested her head on my shoulder and I heard her sigh.
