"Any news, bro? Why are you calling? Is everything okay with Jenny?"
The worry in my brother's voice is frightening. I don't know how to tell him that, although nothing is wrong, nothing has changed, either. Jenny is just as she was when we left the park. I can't believe I let this happen to her.
Having barely left her side since we got in the ambulance, I look at our clasped hands and tell Jas, "No change. She's exactly as she was when we left the ambulance. I can't help but think that she may never improve, Jas."
Jenny is laying there, lifeless, hooked up to machines. They are saying that she was dosed with enough to kill her, but somehow she is still alive. She isn't on full life support, just IV's and heart monitors. She is breathing on her own, but she isn't moving or eating. If she doesn't wake up today, they are giving her a feeding tube.
