Annie's POV

How could this all be happening? I have seen nothing but trouble my whole life, but the amount of drama this relationship has caused me is insane. I hold my two children close as Jas talks to the men who were already on the outside almost constantly, while holding us.

I have no idea how many emergencies we have caused each other, but eventually this will all stop, right? It has to. I feel the first tear start to fall and then a cascade of them hit me. Not my own, but Lilly's. 

"Lilly, what's wrong?"

"I just wanted to go out and play. Why can't I just play?" She wipes her eyes as she says this.

"Sweetie, we have to keep you two safe, first, then, when we get the all clear, we will be able to play outside all the time."
