Mr. Herbert understood just how biased Calum was, but he was a wily old fox who looked down on Calum and did not trust Ruth, so he decided to protect his own interests by staying out of their family’s affairs and refusing to say anything about it.

Nathan diverted the subject by saying regretfully, “But it’s still sad that we lost the copyright for Silent Love. We assessed it so thoroughly and planned for it, but it ended up benefiting someone else instead.”

“Don’t be sad about it. I never wanted the copyright for that book.”
