CHAPTER 3

Valerie still couldn't believe her was being transferred to France. And she was leaving her home in Chicago; she didn't have much with her, just a small suitcase filled with work clothes and a few necessities. Valerie planned to leave some of her belongings with the owner of the flat she was renting. Whether or not she would return one day, Valerie would ask to be sent her things if she planned to stay in France for a long time. Valerie's door opened, and she already knew who was coming, if not her best friend Clara.

"Are you leaving already?" Clara came and immediately hugged Valerie's well-dressed body.

"Yeah, my plane will take off in the next hour. Goodbye, Clara... Don't forget to take care of your health." Valerie hugged Clara's body, the only friend her had.

"Take care of yourself, Valerie; let me take you to the airport." Clara took Valerie's suitcase and led her out of the flat.

Before leaving, Valerie had time to say goodbye to the owner of the flat she had rented. Valerie gazed once again at the old building, which had felt comfortable for her for the past 8 years.

"Call me when you get to France... Remember, you can't forget me, your best friend." Valerie laughed as she saw the look on Clara's face. She was always joking, but now she was looking serious with her words.

"Don't get married without me, Clara... You must remember that I am obliged to select your future husband." Valerie gave one last hug before she waved her hand.

It had been a long journey for Valerie. How could a poor woman like her be able to travel abroad, even just to enjoy a glass of wine? Valerie had to think several times about using her salary money. Living in Chicago by herself was very difficult; she had to eat rough and had to set aside money for transportation and the flat rent that had to be paid every month, not to mention my urgent needs.

Valerie's getting a business-class airplane ticket made her even more surprised. He thought Mr. Regan was paying him an economy-class ticket, but her was wrong! Her was even more embarrassed when her found out that Valerie was sitting in economy class, even though it was written on the plane ticket for business class.

"It feels like a dream." Valerie sat in a soft airplane seat filled with only a few people who must be rich.

The flight attendant came to serve a very luxurious meal, and this time Valerie felt very sorry to enjoy a piece of meat that looked beautiful on a golden plate. There were even many kinds of forks, knives, and other cutlery on the side. The flight attendant also poured wine into the glass in front of Valerie.

"Would you like me to play a movie?" The flight attendant asked Valerie again, making Valerie feel a little nervous.

"Sure." The slight nervousness that overcame Valerie made her tone a brick.

The flight attendant turned on the LCD screens attached to the front of the seats in each business class seat. Valerie's eyes focused on the woman who became the display model of the airline advertisement she was now riding, Veronica, her mother. Valerie's hand immediately gripped the fork in her hand tightly; fortunately, it was only an advertisement that quickly changed to a romance movie that she did not know the title of.

After traveling for several hours, Valerie finally arrived at Charles de Gaulle Airport. She looked around to find someone who would pick her up. Valerie looked at the clock on her wrist and walked over to sit in one of the available seats. Valerie was afraid she would get lost because she had never been to Paris before until a man in his 40s approached her.

"Is your name Valerie Ashley? I am Depson, in charge of picking you up." The old man greeted Valerie.

"Yeah. I'm Valerie from Chicago." Valerie stood up as the man led her toward the luxury car that was parked at the airport exit.

"Please, miss, I will take you to the apartment." Valerie nodded and got in the back seat like a big lady; she didn't have to bother with her luggage.

During the trip, Valerie was hypnotized by the beauty of Paris, which is a must-visit destination if you have the money. Valerie is one of the lucky people who can come to this city.

But he thought again that hee would be transferred to one of the companies in Paris, but her didn't know what the work would be like here. And as Mr. Regan said, Valerie was no longer under Mr. Regan's leadership but under another boss.

When looking at the city of Paris, Valerie even remembers the face of the man of the week. Always ruining her day, that handsome face always makes Valerie fantasize about that man. In fact, by just imagining Valerie's body, it can't be invited to work together, let alone if she is close to that man.

The car carrying her stopped in front of an elite apartment complex.

"Is it possible that I will live here?" Valerie said to herself.

"Miss, we have arrived at your apartment; let's go in." Depson opened the door for Valerie. Valerie looked at the apartment building up close. The design was dominated by a lot of glass, and there was one beautiful balcony protruding to the front, which was a very beautiful golf course.

"Miss, come in." Depson pressed the numeric password on the door until it clicked. Valerie, who was behind Depson, just watched, admiring the beauty inside, filled with luxurious and modern furniture.

"This apartment will be your residence." Miss, your door password is "260487." "You can have a tour of the apartment tomorrow... I will take you to the company where you will be working. I hope you will not be late because the master does not like undisciplined and neat people. Please do not dress too sexy." Valerie nodded at Depson's explanation. Depson left a business card with his number on it.

After that, Depson left her alone in this spacious apartment.

Valerie walked into the pantry, which was very cool because it was dominated by expensive black marble. Valerie's hand opened the door of the two-door refrigerator. To see if there was any water left for her or not. She was even more surprised to find various types of water in glass bottles lined up on the wall of the refrigerator door. All the groceries were there, as well as various kinds of cakes.

"Wow, this is heaven." Valerie saw a lot of fruit filling the other door. Valerie couldn't believe she was getting this kind of treatment, and when she met her boss, she would thank him profusely.

"I hope him a good man and not an old man." Valerie opened the lid of the mineral water bottle and gulped it down, hoping that this was the best life she had chosen.
