Chapter 41: Intermission 2

“Don't be, I asked her uncle about her, and for once he didn't lie, he told me she’s married.” Trey ran his fingers through his hair, causing his perfectly styled locks to become disheveled. His mind wandered back in time, as he recalled a memory from six years ago.

As Trey slid the ring onto Valerie's finger, she gazed at it with admiration and whispered,

"I love you," before planting a tender kiss on his lips. She then got up from his lap and took a seat on the sofa in the office, where she watched Trey work and she continued to admire the ring on her finger.

However, her outward display of affection was nothing more than a facade. After about half an hour, Valerie received a phone call that required her immediate attention. She approached Trey, pecked him on the cheek, and made her exit.

Trey, engrossed in his work, continued typing on his laptop for another half-hour before realizing that he hadn’t been on his phone for almost two hours. As he was scrolling through his
