Chapter 28: The problem of escaping

Daniel is driving carefully. However, the anger is palpable in the atmosphere.

"I'm sorry," I say as he drives.

"Why are you telling me I'm sorry?" he asks without taking his eyes off the road.

"Because I know how much you hate each other. And without thinking about it, I told you to come get me. That's why I'm telling you I'm sorry."

"It's not your fault. Our relationship is so broken that whether you're there or not wouldn't change whether he and I treat each other like this."

"However, if you hadn't come looking for me they wouldn't have talked to each other like that."

I know it's not my fault that they treat each other like that. But it does make me feel guilty that I argued, because Daniel came looking for me at a place that is owned by Esteban. Analyzing the little I managed to hear, it makes me think that, if it is true that they detest each other and that it is not a child's game, but, that there is something big between them.
