CHAPTER 26: The starvation stunt.

The whole gun incident was a rather humbling experience for Sarah. She learnt that she lacked the will to hurt Aldo. And the fact that at that moment he still managed to comfort her weighed on her heart.

She wasn’t stupid, just torn. Torn between what her heart wanted and what she knew was right. She should have fired the gun. She should not have glanced at him a second time. Although she knew what type of person Aldo Accardi was, she kept making excuses for him in her heart.

The sun rose to its glorious shine over the Accardi mansion. The chef in the kitchen worked extra hard to have breakfast ready on time. Old Maria had been watching each movement closely. Like a guard dog. She was clearly in a bad mood.

Her eagerness to meet Aldo’s woman and have him wedded was cut off brutally. She knew it from the moment she saw Marco drive the unconscious young lady into the mansion at dusk. It was like reliving the exact same scene from Aldo’s parents' meeting.
