chapter thirty- seven

*POV Lily**

I was wrapped in a sheet, trying to distance myself from everything, but Jennie's words continued to haunt me. She was concerned; I could see it in her eyes, but I didn't want to tell the truth, not yet. All I wished for was a little peace and quiet.

"Please, Lily, eat something," Jennie insisted, offering me a piece of cake.

My hands trembled as I took the cake, but they shook even more as I brought the fork to my mouth. I swallowed it with difficulty and set the fork aside. "I'm not hungry," I replied, my head hanging low.

Jennie didn't give up, concerned about my condition. "I'm worried about you. It's getting dark, and you refuse to eat. Johanna said you were sick, and you won't tell me what happened in the Alpha's room."

I couldn't contain my emotions any longer. Tears streamed down my face, staining the white sheet. "Nothing happened, Jennie. Please, let me sleep!" I complained, burying my head under a pillow, trying to muffle the sound of her words.
