chapter twenty-eight

POV Lily.

My steps echoed through the empty hallways of the pack house. My mind was in turmoil, a chaotic mess of thoughts and emotions. What had happened in the bathroom was a dark shadow hanging over me, and the uncertainty of what the future held for me was almost unbearable.

I couldn't stop thinking about that expression on the alpha's face, a look of disgust and anger that I had never seen before. Those eyes that used to look at me with tenderness and affection now regarded me as if I were something repulsive. It made my heart race, and I felt cornered, not knowing what he would do next.

He was the supreme alpha, the leader of the pack, and he had the power to decide my fate. I wondered if he would exile me, condemning me to roam alone with his pack mark on my neck, a sign of my rejection. That prospect was terrifying, and I felt lost, without a place to call home.
